Thriftway on Washington near Sterling?

Has anyone used their pharmacy? How is it?

I use it and it's fine. I mean, for Rx's...the actual product selection is okay but not great. It's a relatively small store. But it's decent. They don't sell smokes, though.

similar to mayday in a certain sense - i noticed when i got my Rx filled the co-pay was higher than i ever paid anywhere else. that being said, it's across the street - so what's a couple bucks?

Isn't the copay determined by your insurance carrier? This shouldn't vary from one pharmacy to the next.

hey all - I stopped by there last night - not bad at all. I dropped off two prescriptions and they said they'd be ready in 20 mins. I went home, started dinner, then went back. they were actually read in 20 mins! also, one of the prescriptions I was trying to get filled too soon (my health plan wouldn't let them fill it til next week) so the pharmacist said he'd hold the prescription and fill it next week so I could just drop by whenever and pick it up. of course, we'll see if that happens, but so far so good.
I think at duane reade I may have paid $3 for this prescription and at thriftway I paid $5, but I honestly can't remember - it could have been a different generic I was buying for $3 and I paid $5 for this one. in any case, if there is a $2 difference, it's a small price to pay for convenience.

Convenience always has a price.

is it really kosher for a pharmacy to charge more than your insurance copay? that seems sketch. i mean, if they were delivering or something, i could see that.

They've always charged me the co-pay on my insurance card and been fairly prompt. 20 minutes is just enough time to go get a muffin at Shane while I wait. And I like that they're close and open late.

I've had issues at various chains as far as them charging prices way over the co-pay. I asked my insurance carrier, and they said I have to go to a chain or drug store that participates with their insurance. Sure enough, Aetna has a whole list of pharmacies that participate in their co-pay plan. If I go to those pharmacies, I pay the $5 copay. If I go to a non-participating store, I can still get the meds, just not at the copay price. Might be worth checking out if your insurance plan has a list of participating pharmacies.
