Hotels in Amsterdam?

Anyone have any hotel recommendations in Amsterdam?

Last time I was in Amsterdam, I couldn't find a hotel/hostel and I ended up sleeping on a boat in a canal for the night... ah, good times! I was actually pretty happy with that, though, I thought that I was going to have to sleep on a bench in the park... anywho, I'm not much help.

It's been about 10 years, but I loved Seven Bridges Hotel.

And it's around the corner from Lucky Mother's.

I was there in '01 and stayed at the Hotel Fantasia. It was right by Waterlooplein, so it was close enough to walk to the center of town but on a fairly quiet block, and it was cheap but clean and friendly, a great place to stay if you're on a budget or just want to save your money for space cakes.

Since then there are new owners and the name has changed to Lucky Travellers Fantasia, but it's still supposed to be a nice place to stay.
