Hi - I know there are several of options as far - cable and internet.
I would try a bundle package but phone is not necessary..
Based on area and customer service, do you have any suggestions since I am new to brooklyn..

Anything better than Cablevision if that.

The initial installation process with Time Warner is like entering the 9th gate of hell. Could possibly be the single worst customer service experience outside of the DMV in new york city. Once it's in, however, everything runs pretty well (at least it always has for me). I get cable tv, cable modem and voip phone service all through TW, and am very happy with the quality and the customer service over the phone. Again, it's just getting over that first hurdle of the installation that is brutal.

the problem with most cable companies is when they have to run a new line and go through someone else's apartment or some place that only the landlord can get to. lucky for me i lived in a garden apt in CH, i remember the upstairs neighbors waiting forever to get a weekend visit so the cable guy could come through to hook them up.

I've had worse experiences with verizon. At my old place in Wburg we spent two months just trying to get verizon to give us an appt, let alone show up. For sure, neither is fun.

Anyway, we get Directv for our tv service. They have pretty good customer service and their workmen are generally competent. Originally I got Directv for the NFL Sunday Ticket package, but in the years since I've become a fan regardless of NFL ST. The prices are pretty comparable (the base package is like $70 or something, compared to TWC's $60 (I think))

I'm using TWC with Roadrunner for several years and haven't had any nightmare experiences, I do own my house so access isn't an issue.
I had 2 lines already running to my house so they hooked up a box to each- turned out to be a mistake on thier part when they decided to disconnect one of the lines and didn't realise they were feeeding one account on 2 lines. Annoying but they fixed it with no fuss.
Had to have them replace one of the wire runs inside my house due to latency issues, you you have existing lines make sure they test from the internal end for signal strength.

Lately they seem to be restructuring the network so there is intermittent latency issues- not a big deal for surfing but a big problem for online gaming. Might want to question them on this if gaming is important to you. I hear Verizon is rolling out fiber optic in Boston: I'm hoping TWC will do something similar to stay compettitive. Or perhaps NYC will have a decent municipal system in place.

Oh and for some reason Roadrunner thought my name was Penis so I had to sort that out...

In the clintonhill apts we have TWC. The installation wasnt bad (although they clearly outsourced it for me), and the service has been good. I use them for cable and internet, but I use vonage for the phone. very easy to install, and cheaper than TWC triple play.

sucks that we cant get FiOS.

TWC service speeds are not all that great. They intermittently slow down. A restart to their modems is necessary every 3-4 days. Tried every possible kinda troubleshooting.

arZan, you might want to consider calling TW if you haven't already and demanding a replacement modem. My modem never has to be rebooted and in general I have very few problems with TW's internet service (knock on wood).

not mine. I think I have restarted mine twice in 1 1/2 years. I can't say that I've checked the actual speed, but that's because I've never felt the need to - it has seemingly always been super fast for me.
