Always a BAX favorite Victoria Libertore is back! Let go of your inhibitions and get comfortable in your own skin. ‘Howling Vic’ will share her unique skills to help you develop a three to five-minute performance piece that reflects your individual attributes. Using tools of physical theatre, archetypal energy, intuition, character exploration and imagery, you'll build a solo performance incorporating a strip tease and learn how to be comfortable while doing it! Come and release the Goddess within. (women only)

I'm not sure if it's the same workshop, but a friend of mine did this a couple of years ago and LOVED it -- said it built her confidence like you wouldn't believe and was just a blast to do.

Someone gave me a similar class as a present for my wedding (this was in 1993). It was awesome!!! I didn't take my class at BAX but I took it at a small studio in Manhattan. It was all women in the class and we mostly wore workout clothes. It was a lot of body movement and once the class started most of the women lost their shyness. We worked with some costumes (i.e, fans, boas, etc.). It was definitely worth it and lots of fun.

Hell yeah I used the lessons at home!!

It really was a fun class and it wasn't in the manner of a "stripper-type" class. It actually felt very empowering. There were a few girls in the class who were very nervous but once you get going it becomes alot of fun. The beauty of the class was how sexy it can be without being raunchy or degrading

Excuse me NOT, Burlesque "teachers." If I gotta take my clothes off, you can go ahead and pay ME $125.

What's the difference between burlesque and stripping?

I emailed her to ask before seeing your follow-up post and it turns out the class she took was at Red Hots Burlesque -- there are a couple of articles on it here and here (there's a decent audio slideshow at that second Times link), and here is their MySpace page.

I don't really know anything more than that, but I'm pretty sure they did get down to skivvies at their graduation performance.
