Where in Park Slope can I buy a basic, inexpensive new futon and wood frame?

There's a place on the corner of 5th ave, btwn st. marks pl & warren ave, directly across from Peperoncino resturant. They have a big ad in the window for cheap futons. Nothing fancy, just your basic futon.

There's Futon Expo on Flatbush (?) but they're probably much more expensive.

Jeeze, now that I think about it, it might be off by a block. But it's definetly close to Peperoncino, on 5th ave.

True, but then you have the whole Bed Bug problem out there. I'd maybe buy a frame from CraigsList, after I thoroughly cleaned and sprayed it, but a mattress I'd be paranoid about.
I've just heard too many horror stories.....

Yeah, I'm scared of bedbugs, so "like new" and "hardly used" are not what I want in a futon. I'll look for the place on 5th -- thanks!

I wouldn't buy a frame off craigslist, either - even with cleaning and spraying it's not worth the potential hell. Bedbugs love to hide in hairline seams and cracks in furniture.

I went to the place on 5th ave (it's a block north of peperoncino) today because I need just a futon mattress to replace my old one, but they didn't have any in the store or in stock. I would have had to order one, sight unseen, in either black, green, or burgundy (not a zip-off cover, but the futon itself). The guy was a pain and tried to convince me that I didn't really want a white futon anyway.

I'm going to try the place on Flatbush.

Northflatbush.com shows a website for a Futon Expo on Avenue U. If they're connected to the one on Flatbush then they don't look that expensive. (Although I did get a little giggle about the url.)
