A Train - Is it finally running normal again.

Hey i know over the past couple of days there were serious issues with A & C between Jay Street and West 4th. Please let me know if its ok to ride. ..

Rode the A just this morning between those stops without a hiccup.

what was the problem? i hadn't noticed anything on my commute between hoyt-schermerhorn and bway/nassau

ok its back to normal - i took it last night and it was fine thanks..
but the problem started mon night where btw west 4th and jay st..it ran on the F line due to some track issue.. so many people were confused..just madness..
then yesterday morning when i came in..same bs again.. i had to take the A (while on the F line) to broadway laffayette to get downtown..

with all the projects going on these days underground, i made certain to sign up for the MTA weekend advisories emails. i also make it a habit to check the regular advisories when i'm traveling. here's the link. good luck!

Yeah, it's been happening on weekends for the past couple of months.

I know on Monday night, there was a track rail problem at B'way-Nassau which rerouted Brooklyn-bound A/C trains on the F line to Jay. I had to take the A up to W4, transfer to the F platform to catch an A, which went at a snail's pace back to Brooklyn. A normally 15-minute ride took me almost 50.

The C train ran on the F line between Jay and West 4th this morning. They explained it as an "incident". Doesn't sound like it really was if this happens regularly?

Also, the A/C trains seem to be the most old & filthy to me. Anyone know if there are plans to upgrade them as they've done w/ almost all other lines?

I like the size of the A/C trains. Even if they are old, I prefer their width and space to the cramped, overlit 4/5/6.

Oh I didn't mean that there are regular PLANS to switch the service, just that all the lines seem to have a hell of a lot of "incidents."

Couldn't agree more. The 4/5/6 and the 2/3 trains make me claustrophobic.

Though in answer to BK allday, I assume all of the lines will eventually get the new trains. But maybe I'm giving the MTA too much credit.

Transit crews in Brooklyn will be replacing rails, rail ties and other equipment along a section of track installed in 1936

THIS is what's wrong with the MTA. Why hasn't this track been updated since 1936!?!

I live near Myrtle Ave so I can take the 38, 54 or 61 buses to Jay St, but this construction is going to suck for a lot of people. A necessary evil but annoying nonetheless.

Probably because if they tried to update it sooner, they'd get a bunch of people complaining about taking a "perfectly fine" track out of service for "needless" updates.

I'm actually not saying either perspective is incorrect ("fix early" or "fix late"); I just know they'd get complaints no matter what they do, because I've become very cynical.

definitely. however, waiting 71 years seems a bit much to me.
