I'm new to the area and would like to know if anyone has any recs for the freshest fruit and veggies around FG/CH/BS. I know many are devotees of PS's Coop or FreshDirect, but I'm looking for a store closer to me. Please let me know if you have a favorite local grocer!

Lila it is really worth it to take a trip to the farmer's market at GAP on Saturdays. I usually load up on my veggies and fruits there. If not I get them at the Key Food on 5th Ave (and Baltic). Also there is CSA that runs from I think April to October you can join. WhyFi actually broke it down pretty good here:

I use the fruit / vegetable / deli market across from the Associated on Myrtle @ Hall. While not a HUGE selection, the quality is very good. (Much better than the Associated).

I say hop on your bike and get down to Fairway Market in Red Hook. Failing that then try the Farmer's market on Saturday mornings at Ft. Greene.

If you don't want to trek to Fairway and can't make the Green Market on Saturdays, check out Greene Farm @ Greene & Cumberland. It's is probably the best bodega for vegetables. There's also the bodega on Lafayette @ Fulton but it's WAY overpriced.

Although I've never tried it, I note that many have responded to similar questions on this board by indicating that the Foodtown on Fulton Street has pretty decent produce.

Many thanks, you guys! I'll try a little bit of everything you suggest here. I'd LOVE to become a member of the CH CSA, but I've written them emails at the address on their website, and have received no response back...does anyone have an alternative way to contact them?
