Finding people online

I am looking for someone I grew up with, before falling out of touch. Google isn't helping much. Any ideas? I don't think I want to actually pay to find this guy, but recent events have me wondering what happened to him.

His name is Joel Israel, he grew up in Kew Gardens Queens, went to Jamaica High School (I think), would be 31 or 32 now.

Lexis-Nexis? Do you know if/where he went to college? Try something like Classmates.com. My surefire way for stalking, erm, finding folks I used to know: Friendster/My Space. And as a last resort, post a missed connection on Craig's List.
