Best Veggie Burger in PH (or PS or CH ... or elsewhere)

OK, so I admit, I am a veggie burger fanatic (aka VBF) ... I've had VB's that range from the Totally and Utterly Repulsive (TUR) to The Totally and Utterly Sublime (TUS).

Does anyone on DH have a place that they would recommend for the latter (TUS)?

The best veggie burger I have ever had is from a brand called Dr. Praegers. They sell them at the Met Food on Vanderbilt. They come in different flavors (Tex Mex, Italian) and they are soooo good. So good that I tricked my husband into eating one and he didnt even know it was veggie until a pea rolled out.

a lot of veggie burgers aren't vegan - they use eggs as a binder for the other ingredients. this can be particularly true with restaurant/homemade ones.

Subject: Not even a dobut - New Prospect Cafe for veggie burger

I can guarantee you, without doubt, that the New Prospect Cafe on Flatbush at 8th Ave, has the best veggie burger, in PH (and all of NYC). It is an almond veggie burger, has depth, is moist, comes with a nice tomato and perfectly melted cheese.

I challenge anyone to tell me that it isn't the best in town, and I've tried 'em all...

Hope and Anchor in Red Hook. Theirs is served with hummus, feta, and green olives...SO tasty. The waitress never even asks me what I want anymore--and I'm not a vegetarian!

I don't know. I tried the almond veggie burger about a year ago and it was really, really thin and I didn't like the "almondy" thing going on. I love almonds, but not in my veggie burger.

I totally agree with Jake about the veggie almond burger. It was an amazing find and have not ever come across a veggie burger as good! Even my friend, who is the pickiest eatter in the world- the type who always finds something wrong with everything loved it! Try it!

Embarassingly, I tried one if the new McDonalds veggie burgers today (they were giving them out free at the Union Square McDonalds). Ironically, they taste about as much like meat as the regular McDonalds patties. Awful BBQ sauce though.

i eat meat too but am seriously addicted to veggie burgers, i get them everywhere, frozen, fresh, whatever. hands-down the best v.b. i've ever had is at zaitzeff's in manhattan - nassau & john. not in prospect heights but worth traveling. i work on the UWS and head down for lunch at least once a week, it's that good. homemade veggie burger topped w/ avocado slices (like half an avocado), mesclun greens, fresh onion and organic mayo if you ask for it, and cheese on a homemade portuguese roll, everything organic. holy cow. too expensive but seriously worth it. sweet potato fries are amazing too.

How about the "McDLT"? Hot side hot, cool side cool, and a gigantic piece of styrofoam.

    really?

while the Soda veg burger was good (aka not offensive and quite filling) it didn't .. taste like anything. I hate sandwich toppings (aside from mayo) and I used the copiously on the veg burger. I topped it with cheddar, though, cause I hate blue cheese. maybe if they had jalapeno jack, we'd have a perfect jalapeno/veg burger vehicle....
