Look people, I am transporting an actual live German to this thing. He's never taken the subway before, so I have to teach him how to buy a ticket, navagate the system, change trains, etc...

Fun will be had, goddamn it. Or else. :!:

It was awesome! We made him do jello shots until he puked along to the German National anthem. That man was a champ!

It was a big night for my German of the Month. First time in Brooklyn, first time on the subway, first time interacting with the menagerie of freaks, I mean, DH crew ... And he. loved. it. :D

He thanked me so much for bringing him, he liked everyone he met, and he especially enjoyed finally getting to hear some "real English".

I'm now putting him into heavy social rotation. We are entertaining invitations, but I warn you, we are a packaged set. :P

Real English like "shut up, Dave. If you keep talking about my neighborhood, I swear I'll cut you!" Here to help!

All I know is I don't want no stinking foreigners on MY pictionary team! It's enough having to carry Carnivore's sorry ass!

Fortunately, I was there to provide sotto vocce color commentary to fill in the gaps in his cultural knowledge. "You see, Candace is tough, she was born in a ghetto, and daveb is a skinny wimp from Vermont and he went to Candace's homeland to adopt a cat and thought he would be murdered, because he gets mugged alot anyway..."

Well, some exageration was necessary for simplicity's sake.

    Heh. "homeland."

"I am from the land of East New York. I come in peace." 8)

I thought "homeland" was a better choice than "Fatherland" in the circumstances.

Here's something to think about while the board is off on a fairly serious Real Estate/Construction tilt:

I asked German of the Month the other night, as we were riding on the subway, "Christian, do you think I'm very American?"

    "Yes."

"Oh." [long pause] "I don't really know how to feel about that."

You may have been carrying me in Taboo, but there's no way that would happen with pictionary.

But, you are very American...maybe he took it literally at face value. Maybe you should've said "Am I very American? Do I look like I dress up like a flag on Independence Day?"

Are you guys playing Pictionary? That's like seriously my favorite game of all time. Particularly when accompanied with alcoholic beverages.

I might have to actually come.

I think I would've shown my face this past week if I hadn't been sick (cough, cough). I haven't played pictionary in ages... I hope I'll make it next week.

Might be time to intro myself and the wife to the DH happy hour crew. Sepia's our usual haunt, esp. since Soda yanked the pool table (ok, they had a few fights over it, but still)..

    So, what, 6ish at Soda?
