If you're not a snob, Yummy Taco rules. The plastic trays are a little scary, but I don't eat food directly off the trays, so it's fine. But yeah, good, cheap eats. Plus, IMO, the woman behind the counter is superfly.

Plus, you've gotta hand it to them on the name. Can you think what a disaster "Yucky Taco" would have been?

Strong cosign for Maha's, her falafel and hummus are the best in the area.

I think the$7.00 per day parking lot on St. Johns between Washington and Classon is underrated. Its great when you can't find a spot of alternateside parking days....

Can I get a witness on the newstand on the Park Slope side of Flatbush? When its 4am and you're starving - it makes a great stop after exiting the Q train. They've got a whole range of greasy spoon delights and if you're still thirsty, theres plenty of options in the coolers.

Sushi Gen on St. Marks and Washington Ave is, in my opinion, one of the best Japanese restaurants in the city--fresh and inventive and delicious and reasonable. I eat lunch there two or three times a week and always order the special--whatever it may be. It's always a surprise, and always a delight.

Definitely one of my favorite spots in the 'nabe. And forget about "under-rated." As near as I can tell--from these threads, anyway--the place is virtually UNrated. Go!

That cat is from a litter of kittens that my neighbor rescued from the stray cats in the back yard. And my two kitties were from a different litter she rescued. So nobody better not dis that cat it's our cousin!

I just want to give it up to Duke of Flatbush for also choosing an old timey baseball nickname for his member name.

I second Sushi Gen on St. Marks and Washington. Great, fresh sushi, reasonable priced.

That greasy spoon is indeed the place at Park and Flatbush, its hidden in back of the newstand right next to the subway entrance.

I'll offer a third on Sushi Gen. I'm a big fan of Geido and Osamu's artisitic touch but the $1 Budweiser happy hour at Sushi Gen is compelling.

I have issues with their buy back policy. I understand bars need to make money, and I really like supporting local businesses, but when two bars in the 'hood are pretty generous with buy backs (soda & ripple) and two don't believe in them (sepia & half), the policy can sometimes be a consideration when determining where to hang out.

that said, I do think it's a great bar, and I love going there.

A buy-back is a bar policy which usually something along the lines of after your third drink, the bartender buys your next one. It's a good thing all around for both sides.
