Is this a joke? Because it's the closest this thread has come to funny.

No shit, seriously. They showed it on the news. I would have had to handle it to know if it was real or not. The only giveaway is the thickness of the barrel, which from a distance, at night is certainly not worth squinting over.

Gotta be a joke, right? There are some whacked-out people out there, but if this person really believes this... wow.

rule of thumb: avoid the NYPD. unless someone steals your ipod. cause then they'll chase the guy down and get your ipod back for you. :)

A few years ago I got robbed at gunpoint by a couple of kids -- a cop told me that the gun was a probably a mockup, but the sound it made when he racked the slide... *shudders*. I don't really understand the junior criminal with fake gun angle. You can intimidate as if you had a real gun, but you get shot by the cops as if you had a real gun, too. I guess the goal is to avoid a criminal possession charge if you get picked up for something minor?

Also, wtf, 6pm at Flatbush and St. Marks? That's brazen. One of the articles connected the fake gun to two robberies yesterday -- where can we get details about the other robbery?

I think that it is scary that the cops unloaded their weapons 22 times in total and only hit their target once. That means that at the time there were 21 stray bullets flying around the neighborhood. I think that I would rather take my chances with the iPod thief than cops with bad aim.

right? with the way the Q train has been busted the last few weekends, I've been walking home from Pacific. rather than wandering through the 'hood, I've been walking up Flatbush since I am usually doing this around 10 or 11 p.m. er. I guess that's a bad idea.

That guest post has to be a troll.

I also am concerned that this guy was only hit twice out of 22 bullets. I would expect a better hit ratio from our cops.

Also, I heard a woman was mugged at 8:30 AM on Pacific St. recently. Anyone know anything about that? I feel that our neighborhood has gotten much worse in terms of crime in the last year or so.

He didn't intend to stun someone to death! I say sue the stun gun manufacturer for making stun guns that do more than stun and Apple should also be sued for making iPods too expensive for poor people to afford. Cell phone companies need to make less expensive plans for poor people such as Mr. Higgins. All of this would make crime obsolete!

Please join us at the Apple/NYPD protest this weekend @ the 78th precinct! More info to come!
I went to Smith College (Motto: we're so liberal, it hurts) and I can assure you that there are people who actually think like this. Whether or not this post is a hoax, if anyone actually stages such a protest it will draw Smithies like moths to a flame.

From what I have found out Mr. Higgins was under indictment for manslaughter for BEATING a person to death not stunning him to death
http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=News&id=3085069. So now who do we sue? God for giving us two hands to use.

You say Socio-economic conditions pressured him.
Mr. Higgins was able to maka bail of $150,000 so how economically bad off can he be? Socio - how do we know where Mr. Higgins is from? Maybe he came from a stable background.

When I heard about this my first concern was over how MANY shots were fired.

Sell them or give them to people as presents perhaps? But, it wouldn't surprise me if some just keep them. I see a lot of kids listening to them on the train. The music had to come from somewhere.
