Hangover Friday?

bewitched
bewitched
edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
Let me preface this with, please don't all jump down my throat at once (and of course, by saying that, I'm sure I'm askin' for it), and also I blame KateBklyn for agreeing with me and suggesting I bring this up.

Why is the DH happy hour always on Wednesday? Is there any chance it could be moved to Thursday? I'd much rather be hungover on Friday, knowing I just have to make it through one last work day before I can resume my drunken status for a full 48 hours. Granted, it's my own fault for going to excess, I'm not into the whole moderate thing, but yeah, I propose Thursday Happy Hour followed by Hangover Friday. What say you?

The beating may commence now.

Some of us have "real" social lives to attend to on Fridays. 8)

I think it was Thursday for a couple at one point, but Thursdays generally are bad for me. Then again, being hungover a lot less often is something I can get behind (slightly).

Huh? How does Hangover Friday interfere with your social life? Fine fine, I see I have not earned my stripes here yet to suggest such a radical change.

Why are Thursdays bad for you? Better options? I agree Thursdays are bad in the summer but they seem more tame in the fall, winter - maybe I pulled that out of my ass but for some reason it makes sense to me :?

Naturally you're attendance is required, but if it stays on Wednesday I need to cut my consumption in half and leave about 3 hours earlier!

Oh it totally makes sense because it's better to have 2 days of weekend after one work day of feeling like shit. But, a lot of shows and such tend to be on Thursday nights. And I've realized that the added bonus of hurting so bad all day Thursday makes me not drink Thursday night and leaves me ready to go out Fridays instead of going straight to bed after work like I was for a while. More weekend fun for me!

Yeah man. I realized that I was at Freddy's about six hours! No wonder why I was hurting so.

When we were doing it on a non-weekly occasional basis, it kept ending up on Wednesday and that worked for people. Also, the events of this week notwithstanding, I see this as a "pleasant hangout" thing rather than a "crazy boozefest" thing...it's nice to have something social, but low-key, to look forward to in the middle of the week.

Not a crazy boozefest! That's crazy talk right there!

But seriously, it is a low-key hangout generally until too many hours start to creep past. Then the volume goes up to 20 and we get a little punchy. Moderation is definitely key and I actually block all Wednesday alternatives because I like hanging with y'all so much.

yeah. I kinda like hanging out and having a few without getting rip-roaring. I mean, if I get wasted these days, how will I keep daveb safe from attackers?

What is this low-key thing of which you talk? :?: I guess I won't guage happy hour based on the last two I attended. And here I'd thought I found some local fellow boozers. I guess I could take up diet coke again.

Wednesday always seemed to work out best for everyone, and I agree that it's nice to have a mid-week diversion. Also, I think for some reason lots of people have other extracurricular activities scheduled for Thursdays (yoga, clarinet lessons, daveb's super-freak night, etc.). :P

I think a change could be good. Granted I've only come once so far... but I'm still recovering from it. I got absolutely nothing done yesterday.
