As was discussed in great detail in the other thread (where I originally posted the Duran Duran guy ) Hipsterism is more about the attitude than the clothes...though I must say that while I've seen plenty of people who might dress somewhat hipstery and yet be completely normal/nerdy, I have never seen a true hipster without the outfit. If that makes sense.

in williamsburg on friday (I seriously felt like I was on some outing for a sociology class) I saw a lot of scraggly moustaches and beards. NASTY. and suits. lots of guys in suits, but not work suits. like, dirty old linen suits.

True true. I have my basketball jersey from 5th grade and it's very vintage polyester tee hipster fab. Perhaps I should bring it to Billyburg consignment.

Yes, precisely, thank you. The reason this debate remains is because some people misuse the term to dismiss anyone who might happen to own a thrift store T-shirt or two. Which is just wrong. :x
