Yeah i'm upset for the same reason. I never went to the TL for the coffee, although whenever i needed to get work done at a late hour and couldnt work at home, it was my go to place. Im gonna miss all the people i befriended there who were always working on their laptops next to me.

BTW, does Red Horse still turn off the power outlets on the weekend to keep people from lounging too long? I stopped going there b/c my battery would die by the time i got any real work done.

The Tea Lounge serves cold, crap coffee and always has. NYC is a disgrace when it comes to coffee. I have had better coffee at a gas station in Oregon than anywhere in NYC.

The best cup of coffee in the city is at Dojos on West 4th, and I don't know why.
You know, as someone who lived in San Francisco for 20 years before coming here three years ago, I am with you on this (although I know nothing about Oregon gas station coffee). I've managed to find decent coffee here, but great coffee? Not so much. I've just started making my own at home. Besides, not only do I save money that way, I'm using a lot less paper cups.

Once when I was in Tea Lounge on Union at 9:30 in the morning, I swear I saw two people at the bar drinking martinis. That was a bit surreal.
