Strollers!

As many that read this blog and many other including Eater.com might know that there is a big controversy in The slope over establishments banning Strollers. As a parent myself and some one that works in the restaurant business i have to agree to owners of bar and restaurants banning strollers. Not only do they take a huge a mount of space but they make people uneasy of going in and being a patron. God ,how many times have i gone in to the Tea Lounge and found a play ground, not only it is hard to walk around but try sitting getting a seat. Soda has the same problem, bunch of parents with their pimped out strollers hanging out in the back crowding the room, shit i am trying to have a beer and now i am surrounded by 30 mothers drinking cranberry and soda and their kids wailing away, i am not saying that it is wrong to take your kid out for a beer, i take mine but i never take a stroller, i never let her run around as if it were a playground, for that we have Prospect Park and the Library. But then again its up to an individual owner to make up their own mind. But i did get tired of going to Union Hall on Sunday afternoon and finding myself in the middle of a Stroller parking lot. I say bring your kids to the bar but at least do other patrons and establishments a favor, leave your strollers outside !!

I meant the children section, when she was little and it was cold out i would take her to the children section along all the Carribean nanny's and read her books in the warmth of the Brooklyn Library

Amen. So tired of the parents who think that they should be able to bring their kids everywhere and allow them to behave as they please. And when you complain, you "hate children". Actually, it's not the kids I hate, it's their parents.

i'm sure you'll see them as much as in ps, think about how many young couples there are around here. soon the strollers would be the norm!!

I have been enjoying the ph forum for over a year, but this is my first post.

I can relate to both sides of this discussion. If restaurants want to ban strollers, they will accept the loss / gain of business that accompanies the decision. Parents / nannies / babysitters will respond accordingly.

Hipsters can usually enjoy a child free environment after 10 pm (unless they are a parent).

Some parents are quite thoughtless, believing that all persons enjoy their children as much as they do. Then again, many people are quite thoughtless, whether they have children or not (hipsters and non-hipsters alike).

I was surprised to read one comment some weeks ago in a discussion regarding the recent gunfire near the play park on Prospect Place & Underhill. One posting saw the benefit that stray bullets might take out a stroller or two. I guess some might find this to be funny.

The neighborhood is changing, like it or not. The number of children in my building has increased fourfold in 6 years. The speedbump installed on Park Place (Carlton-Vanderbilt) was requested by parents to slow down the traffic before some child is killed.

For some, is the problem the strollers, or the children?

Strollers are not a problem. Knuckleheads are a problem.

Some knuckleheads are single. Some are married with children.

You'll find that many parents are very conscientious about where their strollers/children are, or how their stollers/children behave. It's the knuckledheaded parents you have to watch out for - especially those with no sense of spacial awareness.

Mr Daver!!Thankfully now i have the luxury of not having to work, so this is what i do, i go to the library ,i go to the Metropolitan Museum every Tuesday,i eat out almost every night, i go on trips over seas , i take care of my kid, i go to cocktail lounges and read this forum!!Sorry if me not working and spending my time writing here offends you...

WOW - I didn't know GOD was a regular on our boards. I am humbled and will no longer believe anything Christopher Hitchens says on the matter.

I generally could care less about strollers, except on the subway. Aren't people supposed to fold those up and carry their babies - especially when a train is crowded? It seems to be that it would be a fire hazard of some sort if we all had to evacuate a train in an emergency.

I think they gave up and lifted the ban years ago.
