What's up with the new look, Brooklynian.com?

queencallipygos(small voice) I actually like the old index better too. It was easier to find the links to the individual boards. -

me too! -
bill cyes, the new set up makes it harder to find the boards. i preferred older version. -
dailyheightsI can understand why it's less convenient to view the home page on a tiny screen, but the board overview links are still right in front of you -- just no longer stage left; now they are stage right. Yes, they are "scrunched up" compared with before--but only because all the dead space has been taken out. I'm just one person, but without the dead space, I find it much, much easier to read, not harder.
And again, "set your own layout" is definitely on the Wish List, so thanks for bringing it up. -

....and also because they are halfway down the page, under some ads. Yes, I can and do use the scroll bar -- but I had to know TO use it first, and it took a little while for me to even think to try that. (not that that last part is your doing, but...yeah.) -

me too!
me three!
The new one makes searching older posts harder. -

weird - that shouldn't be happening. On my computer, they are actually higher than before - right up at the top of the column.
Let me see if I can fix this for you. Are they way down the page on your computer? What computer are you using and what browser version? Are you using a big or small screen? -

Meredith - thanks for the feedback. I'm trying to figure out what I can do to make searching old posts easier for you. The search function is the same as before. What is different now that makes it harder to search posts? -

Just sent you a response to the PM -- but in case everyone else is on tenterhooks, I'm using IE 6. (Unfortunately, this is at work, so I can't do much to control that.) -
whyfiOverlap is back.
The header "Blogs/Boards/Forums/Whatever" is invading the board index. -
eggcreamI have a wide screen and I hate the new look, confusing and time consuming. -

Wow, and here I thought I'd never agree with eggcream about anything...
It will be getting better though. Andy will be testing out multiple layout possibilities and he really does want everyone's feedback, especially if it's negative. -

I'd have to agree, though won't use the word "hate." Was a bit of a shocker, since I have been off-line for a while.
As a designer i can always find things to tweak in other's designs, layouts, etc. (but try to be objective), but I am not lovin' this at all.
Sorry
While it may be more user friendly for those sloggin' through all the admin work, for the average mod (me) and user (comments above) it's REALLY confusing.
Until I know the possibility for skins, I have no constructive criticism.
My 2 cents. :? -
kbmake it stop!
now I'm not even getting the listing on the right side. I have to browser back to old PS threads to find new PS posts.
please put it back to the old way -
shishkabugh. not used to it. dislike it. icky.
but my only constructive complaint is that the "new post" icons are so tiny, i almost can't tell if it's on or off when i'm on my laptop.
and if i have to login (i usually don't have to; comes on automatically), i lose the "new post" icons are they all turn to "read". -

Good to know. I changed the icons back to normal size.
Carnivore is right. Keep it coming! -
whyfiMuch better after the overnight changes (different colored columns and larger "new post" icon). -
shishkabdailyheights wrote: I changed the icons back to normal size.
thank you, DH. makes a HUGE difference!
-
carnivoreI think you should get rid of the middle column, most of which is redundant with the right column. The links to other blogs can go under the current right column content (which won't be as far down once it's wider). -
apollonia666It's starting to look MUCH better, IMHO. The font changes and colors, while not hugely different, are much easier on the eye. On my work computer the page width issue seems to be resolved, though it's still a bit too wide at home (kinda wish the ads weren't smack-dab in the middle).
The only thing is that it's still logging me out every couple of minutes -- that's annoying. I did clear my cookies so I'm not sure why. -
naturegurlDitto everything apollonia said. It's looking better....and it's logging me out -
sweet tealooks much better, though the width is still getting me down.
in addition to having to scroll over (i'm using a 14" laptop) to see the forum list (my only real interest, frankly -- i've never thought of the blog aspect of the site as its primary function), it means i don't see the full flickr badge when the page first loads. i like seeing the flickr badge. -
wirenutit's logging me out every time I return to the main page -
meredithbReally, once it was explained to me about how this new and improved forum works, it is so simple and even better!
And, no, I wasn't paid for saying that! -
lostingreenwoodhtsSorry, still yucky
(and I'm fond of cream) -
dailyheightspeople who are getting logged out:
Can you describe exactly what you are doing when you are getting logged out? Which page/area are you on prior to being logged out, and where are you after getting logged out? -
smidgeI just booted up my computer and I had been logged out....that didn't used to happen.
it also happened during navigation yesterday, but i can't remember what i was doing ...l'll pay attention and see if it happens again -
queencallipygosMore fun and games with the front page!
NOW there's a whole list of links on the top of the screen -- the names of all the boards in a single column -- and the rest of the content (recent-posts column, ads column, and board links column) appears underneath that. Clicking on any one of those upper links just brings you back to the front page, where you were already.
This must be making you nuts, I almost feel guilty for pointing it out.
added on 12:11 pm that same day: Gone now. Yay![/b] -
armchair_warrior*sheepish voice.
daily can we have the old page back
. i know i got the special link hehe. but still would be nice. -
