Technically, that link says that Williamsburg is a guess, not a certainty.
Now, we’re not part of the exalted team that actually decides high-power things like “programming,” but we’d place a $200 million bet that, as massive as Brooklyn is, this show’s specifically hitting the hipster haven that is Williamsburg.

its gotta be either the burg or park slope...there's not that many other places with such a high concentration of bars within walking distance of one another.

I vote Carnarsie. They could work at either FedEx or UPS.

    LittleRedMenance,

Seeing that you live in Crown Heights, why would make such a negative statement. Grant it, Crown Heights isn't Mayberry, but it isn't the New Jack City -- Nino Brown you just described it to be. At least, to me.

they could live at the mckibbin lofts and have bedbug wars. 7 ppl, 1 loft: hilarity ensues!

Hey, I love CH! But there ARE dope dealers here and I'm just saying that the RW kids should work in that field. It'd be a hell of a lot more entertaining than the "jobs" they usually get. :)

I'm not sure that what I said eluded to a description of New Jack City, but whatever. Sorry I offended you.

I agree and same goes for music venues
    burg really wins out there..

I really hope they stay away from the new venue Brooklyn Bowl.. and go more to MH o W.. then again I don't think Brooklyn Bowl will have as much Indie rock anyways

    really this is interesting though
I wonder how many younger folks in the midwest think of Brooklyn as a whole as dangerous still compared to hip or cool :?:

Seriously, I don't think that the MTV producers are thinking about the Brooklyn that we find interesting, but rather the image of Brooklyn that will please the masses somewhere out there in Iowa. And I think that pleasing image will come from a place like BK Heights.
Can't help but find your comment kind of funny, since the "we" you are talking about here are mostly from places equivalent to Iowa, and the image that Iowa finds interesting is precisely Fort Greene, Park Slope, etc.

I think the show is going to be a hit, and attract even more Iowans to Brooklyn (if that's possible).

Yeah, it's not as though Brooklyn isn't already full of tools. What's six more?

I read on one of the local sites that MTV narrowed it down to Williamsburg or Ft Greene.

will the subtitle of this series be called "logan's run"?

It's really funny that you say this because for a few years now, I've always thought that being in Williamsburg is like being in the middle of Logan's Run. But that's because I'm all old and shit. :P

According to this article, looks like MTV is in negotiations with a landlord in Carroll Gardens:

On a side note, Borough crook, er, President Markowitz spoke briefly at the BC commencement exercises yesterday. He ranted about Brooklyn's cultural acheivements and opportunities (he didn't mention the Nets or AY) but the culmination of his spiel was something to the effect of "AND NOW BROOKLYN WILL BE PART OF THE REAL WORLD!! MTV IS COMING TO BROOKLYN!!"

    Nauseating.

According to TMZ today, Belltell it is:

Anyone living in Belltell Lofts in Brooklyn may wanna move out!

TMZ has exclusively learned that MTV's long running idiot parade, "The Real World," has finalized papers to house their latest cast of crazies in the penthouse of the Belltell Lofts in Brooklyn.

This will be the only time the cast will live in anything larger than a shoe box.

I think this is probably the best scenario most of Brooklyn can hope for...but talk about a ghost town once the courts shut down for the day!

Of course, there's always Fulton Mall and Junior's. Oh -- and the bar at the Marriott!

Well at least they will be able to purchase the latest kicks and pay their cell phone bills if nothing else.

Here's an interesting thought, what will their "job" be?

I'm an owner at Belltel Lofts. It's on the corner of Willoughby and Bridge Street, by the way.

I must say that after talking to a lot of my fellow owners, the are happy about the exposure that the building is getting. It's a net positive.
