OK, I know I can buy beer and wine inside the fence, but do they really check to see if you're bringing in your own hooch? And if so, how hard to they check? Just would rather bring in my own wine if possible.

Yes, they check each bag as you enter Celebrate Brooklyn and will confiscate any bottles (particularly of wine or beer). So, you have to buy wine/beer on site or go alcohol free.

You can try what I've done, have a friend wait to go in and they can hand over the hooch over the back fence.

hmmm...I may go the fence route. or, can I pour my wine in a plastic container and say it's juice?

I'm normally not this desperate, but have something specific we want to drink.

I'm probably the only one interested, but I went to the website and it only says cans and bottles are prohibited, so technically, I can repackage said hooch...

I have done the "over-the-fence" trick many times - I go in first and my wife hands me the bag w/wine and then she enters separately.

I have also "repackaged" white wine in a water bottle and no one opened it to smell it - so in it went.

But Veets, what will people think when they see you tippling from baby's bottie? And baby screaming with rage because you drank it all up?

its just cans and bottles, put your drinks in plastic containers and they don't bother you, I did this all summer. The first time I went i got caught with a bottle of wine and they guy checking told me to bring it in plastic and they always look the other way. I've been bringing alcohol in that way ever since.

Applaud, because babies should drink from breasts or cups, not bottles. Particularly not bottles of alcohol. Anyone for Ayrag?

I understand why breasts are better than bottles... but why are cups better than bottles?

In some cheesey fondue places you can have cheap wine out of a baby bottle. I love it.

Puns aside.. I never knew that you could drink wine out of a baby bottle in a Fondue Place. In 1969 when I got married when Fodueing (I made up that word) was huge popular I got like 6 of those pots!! I think the marriage failed because we kept two of the pots and used them. Anyway could someone provide info on a place that has this weird presentation of wine.. could be a hoot to try it.

You know I'm not saying I didn't do it when I was considerably younger (I'm 36) but I think people should support the food and beverage vendors, most of whom are local businesses (two Boots, the beer supplier for two).

If you were talking about smuggling something into the movies or a baseball game...sure. In this instance though, I think it's wrong. Celebrate Brooklyn costs is free! or practically free if you pay the $3.00 donation. Shoot, becoming a friend of CB costs next to nothing. Support the vendors that are supporting Celebrate Brooklyn.
