Well, that would be the best time to sell it, no? They are selling it as turnkey, ready to roll, license and all.

Maybe the owner just wants out? I was just in there on Saturday..... I wish I had known, I would have asked. Carmen, are you up for a little nosing around? You seem so good at getting tidbits of info!

Can someone clarify this for me?..I don't understand how a business "sells" itself (except for the liquor license) I mean, why can't someone just rent it out? What's the advantage of buying a business if the space is already nice and ready to go? The owner of the business profits of course, but who would want to "buy" a business?

If the business is successful and has a strong reputation and a loyal customer base, then by buying that business the buyer has a better chance at success than if he/she tries to create her own business.

Hmmmmmmm I hope no ne bought it-- it's gone down from 415 to 350 since this morning. http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/bfs/715145092.html

I think if you buy it turnkey there is little additional investment - you don't even have to print new menus.

You are also buying "goodwill" and equipment, etc. Most restaurants that go out-of-business sell everything at auction for dimes on dollars - and in this case you get a very attractive long-term lease. BUT - it will be interesting to see who bites - for $415,000 you could start approaching opening your own restaurant.

funny, if I'm not mistaken, the rent has gone up and so has the sq footage from the original ad. Then again, I only skimmed it, so maybe I mis read.

    Wow. Going going...
But interesting about costs, I guess rest. equipment is really that expensive? I just assume anyone who's in the "entertainment" biz would want their own unique stamp on it. Yo, I seen it done on Top Chef in 1 stop shopping at Pier 1!!
    Who knows which is better?!

ok, I've been on the prowl with my neighborhood connections and the surrounding businesses seem to have no idea what's going on at Ds (or they won't say.) Some weren't even aware that it was for sale. None of business around want to ask the employees/managers of Ds because they're not sure if they know or not and don't want to be the whistle blower and bearer of bad news. I'm not planning on eating there for a while and I also don't want to be the one to tell a waiter that he's out of a job soon, so I'll keep my ears open and will post what I find.

Okay, I will say it, Little D. is overpriced and bland. When two people spend $50 on breakfast, it should be awesome. But the food is just pretentiously bland. I love the outdoor patio, but usually leave hungry and much lighter in the wallet.
