421 St. Johns -- Loud House Party

In case anyone else isn't grooving on the loud house party and sound system near the corner of St. Johns & Washington, the address seems to be 421 St. Johns....we're all calling 311 in my building...pretty nuts...

The phone at the 77 was ringing off the hook and the 311 system was swamped with complaints. The cops understand the problem but were having a problem locating the noise from the street. The majority of the calls and 311 tickets just gave a general area of St. Johns and Washington. Honestly, from the corner, you couldn't hear the noise. Please be very specific.

To the jerk that needed to scream and yell at the cops on the phone (all while giving a bad address)...You accomplished nothing except make yourself look like a fool. Did you truly think that by yelling and screaming on the phone the officer answering the phone was going to take you more seriously? All you did was make a fool out of yourself. If you would have just stopped calling for 5 minutes maybe we could have gotten to the bottom of the problem but instead you had to constantly keep calling and berating the officers answering the phone. The precinct can't send you a car if you won't get off the damn phone!

OK...I feel better. I hope the noise problem was eventually solved. I urge you to address your concerns to the community council and the community affairs officer.

Waaaaaaaa. You are all a bunch od babies. Congrats that you have deceided to move to one of the greatest neighborhoods in the city, BUT stop trying to change it into a suburb. Turn on you r ac, shut you window, have a drink and relax. If you don't like it, pack up your stroller and move to the other side of Flatbush.

We have the same problem on Lincoln place with a lunatic who blasts very very loud music from sun up to sun down...very annoying when you are trying to put a baby to sleep not to say rest peacefully at home. Lack of maners is something I always have a hard time to understand...it must also be the same group who host bbq's on the sidewalk every afternoons under other peoples windows...all that for a couple of hot dogs...

The NYC Noise Code which was revised and in effect as of July 2007 states:

“the making, creation or maintenance of excessive and
unreasonable and prohibited noises within the city affects and is a
menace to public health, comfort, convenience, safety, welfare and
the prosperity of the people of the city.”

So, this is about the enforcement of law to the benefit to all citizens of PH and the City at large, not a select few. I was on the street last night speaking with a number of neighbors of all colors and tenure in the neighborhood (all of whom had no strollers in evidence) who seemed to be universally put out by the racket.

When I called the 77 at 10:45 last night, the cop who I spoke to said, "What do you want me to do about it?" When I gave the address and asked if they could send someone over, he then said they hadn't had time to send someone over.

We drove by it while parking last night. It was absolutely out of control. We were stopped behind another vehicle and when it began to move so much weed smoke poured out of the car, we got high just following it for half a block. (For the record, we have no problem with a smoke on occasion, just not while driving. Thats simply irresponsible)

Let's make it easier on everybody in the future. Just call 911 instead of 311 and the precinct. Calling the precinct or 311 is a completely inefficient means of gaining police assistance. Most calls to the precinct or 311 are the last priority. It's highly possible that the poor guy answering the phone can't get in touch with anybody in the field especially since according to the patrol guide a police officer can lose 5 vacation days for carrying/using a cell phone and station house assingments are given out over the radio. You won't see me losing vacation days for a 311 complaint. When you call 911 (or if you insist on calling 311) please give the operator your name and phone number instead of being anonymous. When the officers arrive, the dispatcher can call you back to help guide the officers to the sourc of the noise.
