I'm trying desperately not to scratch the hell out of my arm and ankles. Damn mosquitoes really got me yesterday. Anyone else suffering this menace?

Yes. I'm like the "all you can eat buffet" for mosquitos, and they told all of their friends. Fuckers!

I used Badger Insect Repellent w/ essential oils recently in Belize and didn't get stung at all. It smells nice and is not poisonous. I know it's a little after the fact for you, but this is for future reference.

Note that they often breed and congregate in the pool of condensed water that often aggregates inside your standard window ac unit...

Yep, I have the gigantic black ones hanging around. I tried one thing this year that I read about. Apparently, cinnamon oil kills their larvae. It won't repel the adults, but I drizzle a little in all the places water tends to collect (where they lay their demon spawn), and it has cut the population significantly so far.

In my attempts to not scratch the bite marks, I've ended up feeling itchy all over the place. I feel like that crack head in the Chappelle Show.

do this for the really bad ones:

put a fat blop of cortisone cream on the bite. don't rub it in. put a bandaid over the bite, so that the cortisone stays put.

that's what's gotten me through the worst of this weekend's, including the one on my hand so swollen it looks like an extra knuckle.

How can I make myself less appealing and delicious to mosquitoes? They love me and I want them to stop!

^the only thing that's ever worked for me is keeping company with someone who is even more tasty.

the "i don't have to outrun the bear; i just have to outrun you" principle.

DEET. It's the only thing that's proven to be significantly effective. A product containing 24% DEET should be effective for about 6 hours.

    Good luck pookey :)

Are you wearing any perfume? Those little bastards will find you.

I'm heading out too , but I got on a long sleeve shirt. My neck is what they go for most when I'm outside. My arms and legs are the target at home. And when I get bit , damn I itch like crazy. Especially when one bites my foot that's the worst cuz I can't stop itching.

The problems with the stuff you smear on yourself is that as soon as I put it on I want to take a shower. If you know you are going in to infested area the sprays and lotions with deet are the way to go but lately if you walk to your corner Bodega you are dinner for these nasty biters!!

Exactly! I hate the smell of bug spray, it makes me gag. And the little shits attack me when I'm walking my dogs at night. Thanks, Carnivore. I'll get some DEET bug spray but why do they find my blood so freaking tasty?!?
