Pizza in the Slope

I am a native Brooklynite, lived in Midwood, Canarsie, Williamsburg, Seagate and have finally settled in Park Slope. I have to say, i am having more trouble finding a good pizzeria in this area than any of the others. I know this has probably been discussed ad nauseum, but where can I order a decent pie in the vicinity of 5th and Union? I have been depending on La Villa, but have gotten a bit sick of their pies and prices. I have also tried the placeon 4th and Union and find their slices to be greasy and soggy. Sigh.

I just returned from Tomato & Basil (4th & Union) and it's really, really good. I had 2 regular slices and a small bottle of water - $5.95. The slices were good-sized too.

Ugh, Roma has the worst pizza. The crust is bland, the sauce is sweet and the cheese is rubbery and tasteless. Pretty much any of the other places on 7th Ave are better (and that's not saying much).

Has Pizza on the Park closed?

I second this Joe's. We actually had lunch from there today once we realized we'd missed the last boat going towards the party we planned to attend.

oh yeah Joe's of Bleeker Street that thin crispy crust lovliness! Used to be my favorite village pizza and now they moved to Brooklyn.

I've just wasted a half hour staring at that video, trying to figure out what it has to do with pizza.

Best Pizza in Park Slope now is Joe’s on 7th ave btwn carroll st & garfield pl.

Both Pino’s and Smiling are not even close to how good they use to be.

I was never a fan of Pino's pizza. There chicken cutlet sandwich on the other hand was off the hook when a gentleman named Joe was working there. unfortunately I have to agree about Smiling. It ain't what it used to be. Neither is Lenny's.

Never? Well how long have you lived in Park Slope? Back in the 80's, I honestly don’t think there was one single person in all of Park Slope who didn’t love Pino’s Pizza.

La Villa has some awesome pizza. Maybe a little more upscale than the traditional neighborhood slice, but still really good.

I used to love Oscar's (formerly Roma's pizzamaker) on 7th, where Chiles & Chocolate is now, but they're sadly gone. they really stood head and shoulders above the rest for me.

I do think Tomato & Basil is a definite step above, and that Joe's on 7th does the job. i don't really think there's any other slices that stand out as above average in the hood.

Yeah I remember, that goofy guy Oscar who use to work at Roma’s Pizza opened his own Pizzera a few blocks down 7th from Roma’s. He opened it right after Roma’s went under new management. His Pizza there was really good, but they went out of business pretty quickly.

    Where’s Tomato & Basil?

Roma's and Joe's on 7th are awful. Smiling is good. Peppino's is excellent as well as Lenny's, and Brother's Pizza, try the pesto. Peppe's is also very good.
My overall favorite is Pizza Wagon in Bay Ridge on 86th st.

Smiling use to be one of the best in Brooklyn, but I can’t understand anyone who says it’s still good. Roma is not as good as it use to be, but it’s not terrible. Same with Lenny's. But I really like Joe’s.

I agree Pizza Wagon is great. But this thread was about Park Slope Pizza. If you’re asking about the best Pizza in all of Brooklyn I’d have to say Totonno’s.

Roma's on 7th Avenue near Union Street IS AWFUL and every time I see people eating pizza at Joe's on 7th Avenue, I feel sorry for them.

    Best in Brooklyn?-
    DiFara's
    Totonno's
    Grimaldi's
    Lucali
    L&B Spumoni

In PS, beside Tomato & Basil, I also really like the grandma pizza at La Villa for delivery.
