Lots of them sounds like a show.
I believe that was the fireworks after the NY Philharmonic show in the park.

'twas nice, though there were so many damn little kids making noise (yep, I went there) you could hardly hear the music at times.

Oh, and the ride.. I'm totally in, and this time I will NOT flake!

I also voted 7:00. Figure the earlier the better since it starts getting a wee bit darker around 8:30 or so..

If we ever go to Miami, I'm putting ketchup on my pan con bistec. We'll see how you like it.

you do that, I see some puke in your future. or just pure non enjoyment of MEAT. but hey. if you must, that's ... your issue. blech.

I'm not really doing that. I'm just trying to convey how some condiments are jst wrong for some foods.

What happened to the skinny dipping???

I do not trust that water. I will be on the beach keeping em26 and Caaayhoko apart from Carnivore.

    Ketchup= yuck, fwiw.... :pukel:

Are you taking Ocean Parkway or a side street? Btw, I'm with you Em, Nathan's dogs definitely need catsup and everything else a Chicago like dog needs. It's not like you're going to Gray's where they're good enough plain.

I would think the Ocean Parkway greenway bike path. That's the way that would seem the most practical, and has the least chance of anyone getting run over while traveling in a group.

So, I'm going to be late as I have to feed someone's cats (you know who you are) after I get home from work. I get home at 7, so I couldn't really go till 7:45, latest.

Is there anyone who's not taking the "early train," as it were?

OP is decent enough. I like using it on Saturdays went Shabbos is being observed. My real gripe is the south bound auto traffic. You never see them coming when they make the west-bound turn no matter if you're biking north or south. It's the reason why I keep my front LED flashing during the day when I'm heading north on OP.

Yeah, I do tend to slow a little at the intersections just to be careful. Other than that I think its good though. Unless someone has had better experience with another route?? I know Bedford has a bike lane, but I only rode on it north to Williamsburg. Anyone ever take it all the way south?

(raising hand) Me! From Empire to Emmons. Between Empire and the Junction it can be a crap shoot. In between the zig zagging drivers, the bike lane blind bus drivers, equally blind pedestrians and pot holes, it makes for quite a video game. Once you're south of the Junction it's much calmer.

Bedford eventually merges in with Flatbush and at that point, its hell for car and bike. Do not recommend.

"a schoolgirl is denied, she cries, how quickly would I die if I jumped from the top of the parachute?"

Hmm. Considering the ride, as I have a halfday on Friday. Has an official meetup time & place been established? I've not gone on one of these forum rides, but I am familiar with the way to Coney, and Ocean Parkway is definitely the best option. I am a sucker for the Cyclone, the fireworks, and perhaps a trip to the sideshow if anyone's interested. It's certainly way less freakish than putting ketchup on a hotdog!

Actually it intersects with Flatbush. It's in the Junction area not the Junction itself like I said before. The Junction being Nostrand and Flatbush. However, yes Bedford between Empire and Flatbush is a mess even with the dedicated bike lane for reasons stated before. Once you're south of the Flatbush Ave. intersection you're ride is alot easier going to Emmons.

I'm only for ketchup on a Nathan's because it needs it and a Chicago dog because they put all other kinds of nonsense on their dogs and don't know any better. I'm a Gray's man, with a toasted bun only. Maybe a toasted buttered bun if I'm at this hot dog shack called Tommy's in Ct.

 Yeah, I think we should just stick to the Ocean Parkway greenway.

okay, you guys need a meet up time/place on this end and we (the non-riders) need a meet up estimated time/place on the Q end of things. cause I gots no bike and while I kinda want one, I want one of you-know-who's crazy folding awesome so I won't be acquiring one for a bit. in other words, I plan to take the Q with whoever else isn't riding but wants a hot dog, vodka, etc. where should we hook up with y'all? I don't know shit about CI - went there once with a terribal date so I know sorta vaguely where the boardwalk is but no clue where to find tatiana, etc. I'm lost!

Let's meet at Nathan's at 9pm. It's on Surf Avenue, when you take the Q to the last stop and leave the station you'll see it across the street.

As for the riders, still don't know how many people are in, and what time works best - but I would say 8pm at GAP?!

Argh....looking unlikely that I'll be able to make it. Apparently I already committed to co-hosting dinner that night.

Are you sure you wouldn't rather do it on Saturday during the day? I'm not certain that darkness adds a lot to a ride to Coney Island. Plus its gonna be 96 degrees on Friday! Um, I can't think of any other lame excuses why you should change your schedules to accomodate mine. :)

No way, Jose. One word- FIREWORKS.

Oh, and 8pm seems to be the concensus on when we roll.
    Head count!
