The Curbed Neighborhood of the Year poll! Okay, it's more a testament to how much we like the neighborhood than anything else, but it's still cool.

Well said, sir. Also, don't these people realize that the type of attitude that made so many of us go and vote for PH is the same thing that makes it the best neighborhood? We're all, apparently, proud enough of living here to take time out of our busy internet schedules and go vote on the stupid poll, so that must say something about our neighborhood. What does it say? Maybe that we need to find something better to do. Or maybe we're all really happy to live here, and for good reason.

yay, DH. I saw one of you on UPN (cleverly disguised, of course) and then weep with y'all over my pet's health issues. and at no time, other than the very loud crowing period for 45 minutes, was this poll mentioned at all. I love you guys!!

I think all the anti-PH griping over on the Curbed board is sour grapes, indeed. People who complain about hype don't get it -- hype is how people get excited, hype is how things change.

I'm glad everyone here (despite the occasional fun/heated squabbles) on the DH board should be proud of contributing to the PH hype. I was fortunate enough to be near the ground floor when Fort Greene was on the rise 10 years ago, and the hype there has really paid off. Now having been an owner in PH for nearly two years, I wouldn't change my decision for anything.

Stay in PH for the ride and keep up the hype, y'all.

I agree this is totally a fraudulent poll. If you can't trust a random internet site for valid scientific answers to such questions as "which neighborhood is best?" or "who would totally win in a fight, a whale or 15 sharks?" then how are we to live our lives?

The other thing I don't get is that it's not BEST NEIGHBORHOOD EVAR but Neighborhood of 2005. Sure, I'm no expert on these other places, but what was special about any of those other neighborhoods in '05? We had political intrigue (Ratner, etc.) and unprecedented media coverage.

yeah, it's pretty awesome. and there's some major bitterness. I guess now is not the time to admit that I really do like Superfine, The River Cafe and Rice -- but three restaurants don't equal nabe of the year in my book. sorry DUMBO, with all of your attempts at alphaness.

I've got a lot of love for DUMBO...even if going there makes me all emo occasionally. That really cool neighborhood bar on Jay St, Expo (despite their New Tribeca sign), Halcyon, Empire Fulton Park, the arts fest in the fall. But, they just weren't better than us last year. Sorry.

Yeah, there are also old and/or married people in the group, they just don't talk as much about the late-night shenanigans. Happy hour does start out as a normal happy hour.

However, I would like to cast vote in an imaginary poll in favor of doing it at places that serve food. It's much easier for me to justify abandoning my schoolwork if I can claim that I am doing something I would have needed to do anyway, viz. eat dinner.

if you don't mind Le Gamin food, they will deliver to the bar (they're right across the street). I personally think every bar (that doesn't serve food) should be like Sepia and have a huge pile of delivery menus so people can order dinner.
