Wow.. This seems like it will really happen!

Looks like I won't be around next weekend but this time may not be the only time. Give me about 3 months worth of reading time and I will have a stack of books I want to trade

I work at a publishing house right now- in the short time I've been here I've gathered quite the pile! I'm totally ready to share. AND I've got books that haven't even come out yet....

I've worked at three publishing houses...

I wonder how many of us work in book publishing?

OK I'm thinking Sept 13th, sometime early afternoon (maybe 1-2ish?) I called Dram earlier but no one picked up. I've been rethinking Aji and I do think it's maybe a bit far for a lot of people (I know it's only a block from Dram but I also like that dram has indoor space in case in rains.)

If Dram falls through or doesn't want us, anyone have any other ideas? Nothing past Union, I'd like to stick around something more "central" maybe around 3-8th streets, any ave. Someplace with big tables would be ideal I think so we can lay everything out. It looks like around 15 people are into it (including some people who are not on the board.) I'll make sign-out sheets for the books so people can keep track of where their books are if they want them back, and I'll also print some "rules" on them so everyone knows whats up (for example- swap at your own risk..)

ideas for venues would be awesome. The Gate might be another option in the back area- they're usually not so busy that early in the day.

(Just not when rain is in the forecast)
That's what we do among others things we don't want anymore.

13th would be good for me.
Don't rule out aji.. could be upstairs if it rains and that is a sheltered private place.

Personally I would like to try this place only because I have heard wonderful things about it and the owner seems really accomodating to this board

There is a Bookcrossing meetup monthly and a bunch of Brooklyn bookcrossers.

There is also a free bookshelf at Ozzy's on 5th.

I got turned on to Paperback Book Swap by this thread and have now divested myself of a dozen books i no longer needed -- and am awaiting as many new ones that I have requested....all for the price of postage.

So no in-person bookswap for me, right now....perhaps another time....

Aww but we don't bite (unless you want us to) ;)

as tempting as it is to think of a book swap with nibbles (interpret that however you wish), I'm not sure I can make it.....though I do have more books to bring.....and I was thinking it would be fun, too, to make it a CD-and-book swap.....were a date, time and place selected? Is it firm? (so to speak).

I thought we were doing this next weekend at Aji? Seems like most people were available for the 13th. Lets make this official and put up a sticky ;)

Bricktop - good idea about CD's

i thought the date of the 13th was solid but not the place.
There seems to be enough response to shpw interest in making this happen.

Including cds seems to be a great idea.

I've used paperbackswap for years and have prob swapped about 300+ books through the site.

I also have had about 1500 books registered on bookcrossing.

You may find some of my books scattered throughout Park Slope! I've left some at Ozzie's on 5th, Red Horse (there are still two there on the shelf that I just left if anyone wants them...an A. Manette Ansay book of short stories and "The Frog King" by Adam Davies), Southside Coffee, etc.

    yay books!

    Free books!

I will be putting a couple of hundred mystery and science-fiction paperbacks (and a few hardcovers) out on my front stoop tomorrow (probably around noon), where they will hopefully be removed by passersby.

My wife is a librarian; I work in book publishing; together we accumulate books like a country hound dog attracts fleas.

2nd street across from the PS 321 schoolyard.

    Please come! Please take!
