......TODAY,A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY....[/size[size=18]]......I WAS SEVEN YEARS OLD, AND I THINK I WAS IN THE 2ND GRADE
AT ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST ON 21ST STREET.....
...THE STORY I WAS TOLD ,WAS THAT IN ONE OF THE CLASSROOMS ON THE UPPER FLOOR, ONE OF THE NUNS SAW A PLANE COME OUT OF THE CLOUDS AND IT WAS HEADING STRAIGHT FOR THE SCHOOL. SHE TOLD EVERYONE IN HER CLASS TO GET DOWN AND KNEEL ON FLOOR- NEXT TO THEIR DESKS- AND STARTED TO PRAY.
......A LITTLE WHILE LATER, WE WERE TOLD OF WANT HAD HAPPENED....

.......THE DAY THE SKY FEEL OVER PARK SLOPE.....

I REMEMBER GOING TO FLATBUSH AVE. WITH MY FATHER AND AN UNCLE AND SEEING THE TAIL SECTION OF THE PLANE JUST SITTING THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET..
...THE OTHER PLANE CAME DOWN IN STATEN ISLAND, IN WHAT IS NOW "MILLER FIELD"- RIGHT BEHIND NEW DORP H.S......

....ALTHOUGH , NOT ONE OF OUR BETTER MEMORIES, IT DID HAPPEN IN OUR "BACKYARD", AND DID HAVE AN EFFECT ON SOME OF US.......

Got home from church and had alittle breakfast with the college kid and April. Reality is setting in Spring vacation is over,,,,,,Back to school and finish and then graduation May 22nd....All my retirement money better come in handy. He better Have a job waiting when he graduates..lol
Going to see cousin Carol and I am bringing he basket so we saved on shipping. I made her a bath and body basket with some hallmark items. A candle with a holder and an adorable little plaque that say count blessings. I will try to take a photo.

Busy and crazy weekend.....

Joe - all those pictures of St. Rocco's were great...thank you for all the memories. Unfortunately I don't remember the plane crash, I was probably a little too young, but that was horrible.

Danny - I went into that St. Rocco's cadet site, wow, I was also too young to be a part of that, but boy do I remember them practicing all the time and coming up 27th street. I have to ask you, when I went into the site I saw a few familiar faces, but the one I want to ask you about is Roseann Filauri, she lived in the same house as me on 27th and you would not believe it, but we have not seen Roseann in about 25 years and yesterday she came to see my mom. Me and all my sisters were there, we were all dying to see her, what a fantastic day we all had...I really think my mom reconized her and we had so many laughs, what a great day!!!!!!

Debbie - Your daughter looked so beautiful...did she have a good time?

Jeanette - Glad you enjoyed the beach....this weather is so beautiful

Terry - Send Carol of our love....

Well doing a few things around the house and sitting on my deck in between, we already put out the table and chairs.

YES DEXC 1960 I WAS IN 5TH GRADE AND I SAW THE PLANE GO RIGHT OVER THE CHURCH BECAUSE I WAS NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO MRS. FAZIO WHEN SHE WAS TEACHING..LOLI STILL GET FRIGHTENED WHEN A PLANE PASSES AND IS LOW...TALK ABOUT TRAUMA WHEN YOU ARE A KID...

Hi everyone-heard it was 74 in NY yesterday...it finally stopped snowing when I got up and by noon the sun came out and it was 33 degrees...sounds like you had a great weekend..Helen-Good luck on the apt.hunting. Spent some time with Cousin Carol Miele. she sends her love and thanks you all for the basket we made her. She still has some pain, I had to leave because Mike was making her laugh and that hurt...
Her hospital was not too far from Aprils (Jonathans girl) so we went to trader joes picked up a pie and went to Aprils cause they never went back to school today they stayed at Aprils and going back tomorrow.
