Best Pizza in the hood?

Had that new brick oven place that opened in Crown Heights (Franklin & Union) two nights ago. Good, good pizza - tasty, crunchy crust and tangy sauce. They didn't put enough pepperoni on though. Still beats the crap out of Gino's on Washington, which I've always found to be overly greasy.

BF and I did a taste test last night- Franklin Pizza and Brick Oven on Nostrand.....Brick Oven by a landslide!

Franklin Pizza= only if I'm absolutely desperate. I'd rather walk the four blocks to Nostrand. No doubt.

Was at Amorina last night. The lentil soup special hit the spot, a good warm-up to another tasty weekly special pizza. Ingredients matter, and they consistently use the freshest, in-season vegetables, etc. for the meals. A gem of PH, for sure.

Ok, cool. Yea, we also had entrees a few weeks ago and it was...really fucking good. And I don't say that lightly. At all.

I'm more for Nino's Pizza. They were closed for most of August. They opened back up a few weeks ago and they have added a walk up window. Franklin pizza is good but Nino's is better. Nino's puts enough cheese on their pizza....hehehe yum!

It's only a 3 block walk for me , so I'll be hittin' them up as soon as I get the pizza craving back. I just finished all the Dominos pizzas last night. I don't wanna see a pizza for a lil while.

Indeed! However, as I have not done much in the way of world travel, I felt I should tone down the hyperbole... i.e., I can't really justify saying we have the best in the world (though, of course, we do) when I haven't sampled very much of the rest of the world's pizza.

um. italy. every pizza - slice or individual I ate in italy was better than anything I've ever had in NYC. then again, it was sorta like eating beef in argentina -- it was all so delicious it was almost mundane. it woulda been nice to have a shitty slice just to mix things up.

would that this were true. . . but come on, seriously. there are a few exceptional pizza places in brooklyn and tons and tons of garbage. if you take out the sit-down, brick-oven type places (like amorina and grimaldi's here and lombardi's and patsy's in manhattan) and just compare the average slice joints, in my experience you're far likelier to find something decent in manhattan.

If you go by Park Slope, I could see why you'd get that impression. But take Brooklyn as a whole, Bensonhurst, Bay Ridge, Carroll Gardens, Midwood, etc, and the average slice is way better than your average across the river.

We got some great pizza places in Michigan. I love Roman Village of Dearborn-anyone from Detroit or the surrounding burb areas knows what's up. They have thee best pizza , garlic bread , fried chicken , OMG and their garlic ranch dressing...Mmmm.......everything! It's authenic Italian food. AWESOME!!!!

Because of the frequent mentions of Amorina here, I finally stopped by over the weekend (it was one of those places I walked by a dozen times without really noticing). But, wow. The one with the orange zest, cherries and creme fraiche? Relevatory.

Totally agree, I used to live in Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst, parents still live in Bensonhurst, and it's tough to find a pizza place where the average slice is much bettern than average compared to other neighborhoods. Williamsburgh and Greenpoint would be two other areas where the average slice is consistently above-average.
