They have a sign on the door that says grand opening is the 22nd, 5pm. Whose going? I think I'll check it out later in the evening (8-ish)

They also took down the paper blocking the window... looks really nice in there.

    Should be cool.

Still not open? They've got to be waiting for the license then.

I remember when the Beer Table was opening up, they had a note in their window for close to 2 months, saying that they are ready, but still waiting for the liquor license.

I think the sign said "private party." How do I get THAT invite....

Mm... I got that invite. I've known Brian for years (you probably have as well, from the wine shop, Steinhoff, Two Boots) so I landed the invite to the soft opening of brook-vin. Nice. Anyway, so full disclosure before my little review (cuz brooklynian hates a shill): yes, I ate for free and yes, friends are involved place. Yes, Brook-vin kicks ass!

The decor was perfect for the snowy night. Brick wall with fireplace (non-functioning), shiny tin roof, wood floors, wood and zinc bar. The walls are a very warm shade of blue and the windows fogged up making it ultra cozy.
The wine list is what you would expect from Big Nose Full Body, interesting and accessible. In an effort to limit how much free vino we could throw down our gullets the booze options were limited (smart). The house red was solid and I felt the cold a little less leaving than arriving. It does the trick.
The base of the cocktail list is 8 infused vodkas and 6 house made syrups. There are some good sounding drinks on the list but you can also mix and match, make your own. I tried a watermelon basil and a blueberry sage which were nice and light, not overpowering or sweet. I think good warm weather drinking when they open the garden.
And the food. Yum. It seems like brook-vin is going to be a place you can go out and do something nice for your palate. There are lots of small plates and interesting wines. Do you pair the wines with the food or the food to the wine? I tried 4 dishes and what struck me was how well all the flavors were balanced. Pimenton roasted almonds, chopped liver tartine, a charcuterie plate and a nice roasted squash salad. The charcuterie was served on thin sliced apples, with black pepper. The chopped liver was tamed by a nice brown bread toast. Very well thought out fare.

Unfortunately, with my full belly and warm wine glow I forgot to ask when the official opening is. Sorry! It seems like they should be going full force really soon!

You might have trouble convincing people to go out after Obama drinks tonight and unreal world at whynot's tomorrow, especially for wine.

I, however, am an irrepressible lush and would be happy to go.

Is anyone going tonight? I might drag the boy out for a glass depending on how early he gets off work. For those who don't know me, look for the blonde with the guy covered in tattoos- that would be us. Come say HI! :)

I called Big Nose Full Body and they told me it opens at 5 and to try and get their early. I guess it depends on what happens when I go see my new boyfriend Derek.

I am actually going, I'll be there around 6:30P. That tartine of lardo has my name all over it.

For your boyfriend's sake, I can wear a disguise and pretend I don't know you.

LOL, he was actually commenting a few days ago about how nice everyone was so no need for the disguise ;)

He just got another bunch of runs at work so we might not make it, I'll have to wait and see. I hope its not hyper expensive. If I see you I'll letcha know- you meeting Scar?

It sounds like scarlett is going, so I'll see her there. Supposedly the wine is $6-$14 per glass, might be able to save by getting a half/full bottle. No idea about the food, but I'm guessing similar.

I am aiming for 6:30, though I have been busy so it may be closer to 7+

    Busy? At your job?
I might actually head up there early, I donno- E is working late and I am not since my boss has to dip out for a few hours and I'm expected to be back later to work so maybe I'll go grab a glass and read my book for an hour. We shall seeeeee

I know, right? Usually nothing, but since I started complaining about it more all of sudden there's stuff to do.

Aint that how it always is...8 months ago I was bitching about being bored and today we turned down a potential client. Ugh.
