get out your camera phones: yesterday at Yelison I was made privy to the knowledge that a woman (who was ahead of me in line purchasing a condom and a little box of gum) had been in 4 times earlier that day for condoms. I guess there's at least one working girl on Washington.

hmm, seems cheaper (not to mention more discreet) to buy in bulk?

Unless you are directly passing the cost with markup to each customer as they come along.

When rents are free and pigs fly. Until then, just call the cops.

Why call the cops? So they can make her give them free tricks as "payment" to continue working? Why not just leave her be- she's got it hard enough.

On this thin reed of evidence I'm not going to assume that there is a prostitution "problem" on Washington. On the other hand, if there is the slightest bit of real evidence of a streetwalker in the neighborhood you bet your ass I am getting that shit shut down and FAST. Prostitution is an activity that centralizes in places where people don't complain enough and I'll be damned if I am going to live in one of those neighborhoods.

Thank you, James! Along with hookers come drugs, pimps and violence, which we're trying to get rid of, remember? :?

Perhaps the ladies of the night have heard of the impending New World Coffee. If people are willing to pay extra for cappucino, why not a hand job?

I'm not at all sure that prostitution brings drugs and not the other way around.

This would be snicker-worthy if it weren't our neighborhood we're talking about. Regardless of which crime attracts which, it's all bad. Report crime if you want a safe nabe.

Or consider both snickering at my joke and reprting crime when you see it. They're not mutually exclusive.

PS- Teddy- started watching Arrested Development on DVD... damn shame that it'll soon be gone... Let's hope that it pulls a 'Family Guy'

but alas, a good tv show, like a good whore, will provide you with boundless pleasure for a relatively small investment, but will eventually burn you.

While I agree that pros should be reported, alafairnadia's siting is not evidence of anything. It's a rational assumption. That's it.

Taken together with the all-hooker alert handbill picture taken on Washington Ave, it merits increased awareness.

Sorry about the confusion - I don't think that handbill was on Washington Ave.: it was somewhere in Brooklyn:

that photo pretty much has nothing to do with the woman I spoke to at Yelison. though, frankly, some predator preying on whores concerns me. I hope the police are taking the predator issue seriously, beyond just arresting the women trying to make ends meet.

Maybe vice should be out there arresting the johns. If there was no one soliciting a hooker's services, there'd be no hookers on the block.

exactly. I'm sick of this whole 'problem' being the whore's fault. she has a client base. thankfully, she's safe about it (see my original post). sure, there's a pimp. arrest him. sure, there's a john. arrest him. her? send her off to an mba program. well, that's my take.

i don't think she was a hooker or anything, but I saw a woman in a bodega on underhill today buying 10 blunts and a box of condoms. 10 blunts! what foresight!

excuse me, ma'am... something must be amiss, i didn't get the evite.

I've got to agree with this point.
