I've been a semi-regular patron and yeah, I agree that this DOH thing is probably a death sentence for them

I have been to Kiku a few times, and never had a problem with them. That said, DOH violation is a big red flag for me, ans I will not go back. Don't want to take any risks when it comes to raw fish...
    Geido - here I come!

I posted awhile back about the amateur gourmet (blogger and book author) finding a live roach in his sushi from Kiku. I haven't been bacl since then. To any of them.

That's the Kiku on 5th Ave. that Brownstoner is featuring! As far as I know the two restaurants are not related at all, though I'm not sure who came first or how they both got the same name.

I'be always found the Kiku on 5th Ave is some of the most fresh and flavorful sushi I've ever had. I accidentally ordered from the one on 7th once and it was totally different - the pieces were smaller and tasted way less fresh.

Looked like they were open as I was coming home last night. Exactly zero customers in attendance... (to be fair it was 5:45, not exactly peak dinner hour).

Once of those cursed locations, I'm afraid. They briefly had a lock on South Slope Sushi, but then the place on 15th & 7th opened up, in a much sexier space. That's my current go-to for sit-down, while my take out comes from the little take-out Kiku next to the former Thai Tony.
