thank you flexi, for defending my honor.

eatshoplocal, enjoy yourself. i'm watching a movie so i won't be engaging in this unpleasant banter. if you feel, for whatever reason, that you need to pick a fight, go ahead. have a party.

On a side note, we ate at Dizzy's for the first time ever yesterday and I loved it!

Glad you liked your pancakes, I did a pancake contest once, ordered pancakes from 4 local coffee shop places (Daisy's, 5th Avenue Diner, Purity and Grecian Corner) and in my mind, Daisy's was the best.

I don't know how I've lived here 11+ years and never heard of/noticed Daisy's until BP told me recently. It's amazing what you see/don't see....especially since I make a point of walking down different blocks to see what I might be missing

yeah-we have lived here longer than you and always knew about Dizzy's, but, never went there. For us, i guess Dizzy's is just off the beaten path.

But, how have you missed Daisy's all these years? I know you walk on 5th Avenue!

LTS, have you tried the pancakes at Tom's, on Washington Ave in Prospect Heights? If so, how do they compare with the others?

Can't wait for those pancakes tomorrow..

Is there a way to nominate this thread as "best of"?

Like best pointless use of the internet of all time?

    for real or being facetious?

    anyone want to join me?

I don't want to join you, but, I have friends who have done it and lost weight on it, good luck to you!

In answer to the Tom's question, I have only been to Tom's once. And, IMO, it was ok, but nothing at all special. I had heard for ages about how wonderfully fantastic everything at Tom's was and how it was soooo worth waiting on line and going all the way there, etc. etc., and, it was good. But just as good as any other coffee shop/diner I have been to in my life. We just didn't find anything special or exceptionally great about the food there.

I went to Tom's once. I don't remember the food but I do remember that the owner gave my pregnant friend a one dollar coin for luck.

    That was sweet.

You don't have to wait. They also have yummy chili-cheese omelets, and bacon, and multiple kinds of sausage. :D
