Subject: White bread that isn't white?

OK, I know this isn't a PS topic, but this is where I hang out.

So, why is the white bread at the supermarkets (Wonder, Arnold, Pepperidge Farm, etc) actually white in color, but, the white bread at Trader Joe's (Canadian White Bread) not white at all and actually a taupe color (and, no, it is not wheat bread). I have seen other natural brand white breads also like this. What do they do to the more commercial white breads to make them actually white?

Assuming you were looking for a serious answer - I'm guessing a difference between using bleached and unbleached flour?

I suppose my issue is that you used the board for a non- park slope issue. I'm a real hard liner.

Also, while your post isn't as patently dangerous as some others, I find this trend of seeking health advice from those unfit to offer such as absurd.

How is this health advice? All I asked is why some bread is white and some isn't, how is that health advice?

It's not like I asked someone to come over and check the wart on my ass!

Dip the bread in bleach before you eat it. If you have children, feed them the bleach as well. We want to reduce the amount of stupid in the gene pool.

bleached and unbleached flour are the same color, bleached flour is a poor quality and need to be bleached to make it the same color is unbleached flour

Now here's a stupid question. Why don't you ask at Trader Joe's?
