I heard 3 or 4 shots, then a bunch of sirens a few minutes later. There were two listings on Gothamist, one at Franklin/Bergen and one at St Marks. There was a cop parked on the corner all day today with some lights going---I was going to go ask him what happened but he was gone after sundown. Bombay masala guys didn't know it had happened. Haven't seen anything in the news, guess it's not that big of a deal--especially since there were also shootings at Lincoln/Nostrand and Bergen/Albany in CH yesterday.

-Male shot on Franklin between Bergen and St. Marks. Victim fled to the corner of Franklin/Bergen where he collapsed. Victim died as a result of gunshot wounds.

    Terrible.

This seems like a big deal; nothing else reported?

Good place to build condos - they are going up on St. Marks and Bergen just west of Franklin.

This is why there is nothing on the news. Gotta keep the prices up.

I posted this here because surprisingly enough criminals are able to cross the washington border and enter our neighborhood. Its only a few locks away.

There are a couple sources on this board who usually have the details on homicides.

The shootings at Albany Houses and Franklin Ave were both around 8:00pm and the Nostrand Ave shooting was sometime in the morning (not sure of exact time).

Quite curious about the Lincoln/Nostrand shooting since I heard the pop pop pop... Any word on this? Seems a little scary that it was a lady waiting for a bus in pure daylight on a Saturday morning. Eek. Is she okay?

Also, I can't say I loved the police response to this. I walked out to find cops everywhere but they seemed less than interested in surveying the scene or making the scene feel safe. I asked one in a bunch of four cops what had happened and he was like "Someone was shot" and kept on strolling down the block with his buddies. Gee, thanks, I thought.

Wake up. The cops think that anyone who lives here is an animal.

Or maybe they didn't want to compromise an ongoing investigation by giving out specific details of a shooting. Just a thought.

If that was their goal, they could have taken time to inquire whether I had seen or heard anything, perhaps?

If you're asking what happened, safe to assume you didn't see or hear anything.

Perhaps since you were asking them what happened, they thought you didn't know what happened.

Right. Because clearly if I didn't see the individual actually being shot I may not have heard or seen anything prior to or after the shooting that may have been helpful investigating the crime....

Then maybe you would say "Officer I don't know if this is useful information, but I heard the shots and saw a man running down the block with a gun in his hand" BTW, What happened?

This is good advice. Even the dimmest of cops should ask you a followup question.

We should shoot out the cross walk lights. That may work.

Nobody in Brooklyn seems to understand what the big red hand means anyway.

If they stopped to converse with everybody that asks "what happened" no investigation would ever occur. Please for a minute just stop and consider how many people ask the same question every time there are a few cops in the area.

am, what does "make the scene feel safe" mean? It's either safe or not safe. It usually only takes a few minutes for responding officers to determine if somebody was hurt, how badly they were hurt, how they were hurt, if there is an ongoing threat to public safety and if there is possible evidence that could be destroyed. After that it's a matter of everybody showing up so they can say "Oh, yeah, I was at that shooting" or "make sure you put so-and-so on the report as notified."

The city is installing NEW cross walk signs in Brooklyn, that have an audio speaker for the hearing impaired.
