    Y-y-you t-t-think like m-m-m e. I t-t-think its important t-t-to u-u-u-use a r-r-r-real p-picture as t-t-t-the avatar. Other t-t-then a s-stutter, I t-t-think w-w-we have a l-l-lot in c-c-common. W-W-Welc-c-come t-t-to B-B-Brooklynian.

Ever drink paint thinner? Don't! Trust me, its a bad idea. I'm a fun lovin' guy who knows a few magic tricks.

Hilarious!!! We do sound a lot alike. Let me see if I can find a pic that's not SO obvious I'm going to walk down the street and be a notorious forum personality by any random passerby.

I'm sure there's one somewhere. I just have to avatar-size it. And well, I'm lazy. Well, not terribly, but, well... uhhh.... i-i-i-i- d-d-d-d-on't kno-o-o-o-w

oh shiz, so maybe we have that in common too.

    Subject: Spin that wheel

Old Time Brooklyn wrote: So this guy just spins a wheel and opens a I love? Can't say that sounds like a business that's gonna succeed.
I love all the input u guys r putting forward and this was my favorite response. Beautifully put!

In response and not wanting to sound arrogant but at the same time feeling a little challenged. Here I am trying to ask the peeps what they want rather than just assuming and I get told I am gonna fall flat on my face.

So in response yep I spin my wheel and open a business. It's that simple.

No but seriously, a small business always starts with an idea. Often that idea is your own little dream and the creation and location of that idea no matter how great it is could fail if it's in the wrong place or boom in the right one.

This is the 4th time I have spun my wheel and so far they are all still spinning each one different than the last. I live for the challenge and surround myself with the right people to make it possible.

This time I thought it would be fun to pick a location and ask the people what it needs the most.

So keep the ideas coming and thanks again

I don't fault entrepreneur for asking people in the neighborhood what they want before deciding on a business model. That is marketing 101- find out what the customer wants and sell it to them, rather than the sales approach, which is to start with the product and figure out how to make people buy it. The only flaw in his plan is that I'm not sure the people on this site are necessarily a representative sample of the neighborhood.

Agreed. Plus people on this board might just have bad ideas. They could also have really good ones that they don't want to give away for free. You just don't know what you're gonna get.

I disagree, there are also belligerent dog-lovers and belligerent dog-haters, and they cut across the gentrifier/anti-gentrifier axis.

    P.S. NEEDS
A REASONABLY PRICED , WELL EQUIPPED, MUSIC REHEARSAL STUDIO !

it does not need another nail salon, clothing boutique, shoe boutique,
or 5 dollar a cup coffee place , nor another bar, or some shitty restaurant with shitty food that people must go to because they seem to think they live in soho and are oh so special and so its cool and trendy to literally eat shit.

    ah i feel better

thank you. i also agree with my idea for a waffle house. wait, isn't there a thread for unemployed people somewhere? want to open a waffle house with me? it seems clear that we'd get brisk business.

I know this is an old thread but I was just in DC this weekend and stopped in at a place called The Tacklebox...essentially a fuax fish shack (it was in the heart of Georgetown) that served clam strips, lobster rolls, crab cakes, fish tacos, clam chowder, catfish, etc...this is something Park Slope needs.

A good fish store that also sells fried fish would not suck...
In the meantime, Fish Camp gives you the high end version of what you want, pastoralia. Park SLope has more than a few things in common with Georgetown, come to think of it. (oy)
And Fish Camp is adjusting for the recession.

Is Bob Law's Seafood still open on Vandy?

El Viejo Yayo is teh awesome, and completely fills any diner need I have in that part of the world, but with better coffee.

I almost forgot, an Empanada Mama!!

I almost ditched my friends on a Thievery Corp. show at Terminal 5 last night (too cold for my wimpy butt) until I remembered I could get that heavenly spicy chicken empanada. I thought my friends were exaggerating those emps until I finally went to the restaurant one day and instantly wanted to move in above it.

I'd like a nice kids clothing store. Nothing over priced like $30 for a t-shirt, but a normal clothing store and not just for babies.

We already have that pet store, but the live food is incorrectly labeled "puppies."

Hell yes, we need a 24/7 hot and cold serve yourself buffet bar! Enough with restaurants, I want to grab food with my bare hands and throw it into a box myself 24/7.

People keep mentioning a Mac repair store.

Perhaps they are not aware that this already exists on the corner of Flatbush and Pacific?

Never been there, just see it all the time, right there in [albeit on the edge of] the North Slope.

Heh, perhaps one might need to monitor eBay/CraigsList for sales posts while it's in the shop.
