Right, well that's what I was asking, and you answered my question... you drive. You can only walk so far, and otherwise you drive, whether your car or in a cab.

I guess it never occurred to me that someone would ONLY drive anywhere for 15 years in this city, because I relish the convenience of NOT having to drive or take cars to get around. But hey, to each his own!!

I relish the convenience of the comfort of my own car, my own music and my own smells. i also relish not being stuck underground in a subway tunnel jam packed in with other people, etc. etc.

And, yes, we only drive places, i know others like me also-LOL!

Since 1976 I have taken the subway into midtown Manhattan 5 days a week, and back home the vast majority of those days (with an occasional cab home on late evenings). I rarely take subways for any other trips; I vastly prefer to drive on weekends.

Starting this summer I will no longer commute to Manhattan. I plan to burn my Metrocard!

I have known people who never left their neighborhoods in Brooklyn their whole lives.

So if the Subway is too bad for you to ride, why is it good enough for your friend? Why not pay for another mode of transportation for your friend?

And, for crying out loud, have you not ever heard of the MTA's subway map? For Pete's sake, check it out! http://www.mta.info/nyct/maps/submap.htm

This is not rocket science, you BIG BIRD BRAIN!

She is coming in next Wednesday, the 6th, I gave her the directions from HopStop that will have her transfer to the F at Borough hall and take that to the 9th Street station.

I wondered why this thread was so long.

This weekend is supposed to be the last weekend for the Hoyt Schermerhorn mess.

I think it's long because LTS was a bit vague about the exact destination. Which route is the best is a lot different if the destination is 5th St than if it's 1st St.

    5th St- 4 blocks to 9th, 12 blocks 2 GAP
1st St- 8 blocks to 9th, 8 blocks to GAP, easier train route

Perhaps, but it also explains why there wasn't one simple answer.
