hmm, I thought that is what the banner says, but now that I am thinking about it, i think it says something about being PS 321 Flea market or some such.

And, yeah, 20th and 4th being the Park Slope Flea market? uhh, yeah, that is a stretch

I thought it was held by the same people, that's why they were using the same name? I could be very wrong.

I'll be checking it out but that website doesn't create a lot of confidence. If you don't know what I mean check out the FOOD tab and marvel at COOKIES, HAMBURGERS, CHICKEN...

i will say, not to toot my own flea's horn (ok, well, yes), we have great food: waffles and dinges, some of the redhook vendors, etc etc. no burgers and chicken.

i see that flea filling a need of socks, sunglasses, etc. i don't see it as a place for artists

I know...that's what I fear. Maybe they'll allow dogs? That's the sole reason I've never been back to the Brooklyn Flea.
  • brooklynpotter

nope, no dogs. i read it on the FAQ page.

(and for what it's worth, i've spoken with the organizers of the fort greene flea about the dog issue, which is really an issue with the fact that it's a school playground so it's a legal issue. i suggested they needed a dog sitting area outside the flea, so everyone's happy)

I don't understand the whole "playground no dogs" thing. My dog is small enough to hold in my arms. And if I had a big dog and it crapped I'd pick it up (like anyone else would surrounded by witnesses).

The Brooklyn Flea and this one is perfect for a long walk with your pet followed by a little shopping. Why don't organizers get that? I will never leave my dog unattended. I know what happens to little dogs in this world.

She's 8 pounds. How dangerous can she be?
  • brooklynpotter

i don't think you're understanding. this isn't about how big or small or nice or ferocious your dog is. that's a whole different argument.

it's about the fact that dogs are not allowed there.

I love my dog too much. It's a problem.

I totally see why they wouldn't allow dogs in a flea market on a playground, dogs aren't allowed on playgrounds in general. if a dog poops in a playground, even if it is cleaned up, it leaves something there. Even worse if the dog pees. And, yes, your dog might be small enough to hold in your arms but not all dogs are and then people with dogs too big to be held in arms are going to get upset that your dog is allowed in and theirs isn't. So, no dogs period.

if you want to g to a flea market that doesn't allow dogs, just leave your dog at home. i love my dog, but she can't go everywhere with me.
