Rib Night @ Ikea

PokerSloper's hilarious Blue Ribbon thread reminded me of something I wanted to ask here. I heard that Ikea has some kind of rib special night where on Wed. nights you get half a rack and two sides for $7.99. Has anyone tried this before? I have no idea if their ribs are any good, but how can it be bad for that price? I may just have to check this out one night. Moving my car for alternate side parking is a good excuse.

Now the real question is, what is better, Ikea or Sidecar?

I think the question should be a comparison of Ikea to Blue Ribbon. Just sayin'

Red Hot ribs are also very nice. Obviously, not pork candy like at Blue Ribbon, but very, very good for the price.

I have heard Ikea has kick ass ribs for the price and portion. But I am interested in trying for myself. My wife swears by Ikea ice cream.

Red Hot as in the Chinese place? I'll have to try those. Russos also has ribs but I have not tried them either. What kind of style were the Blue Ribbon ones? Dry rub, smokey kind of style? Or sauced up Tony Romas kinda style? I assume they don't smoke them there, right?

I will try the Ikea ones and report back - maybe this week. They can't really be bad. I was not impressed with the ice cream as it was some kind of fat-free thing and very icy - not creamy. Their meatballs are very good though. I can eat like 20 of those things.

Blue Ribbon has the sauced up kind, as does Red Hot, but for both, the sauce is thick and controlled. The key for Red Hot is that they have to brown the ribs enough. The ribs are always good there, but the more they brown em, the better I like em!

I actually wanted to try the Ikea ribs out when we just bought some stuff there this month, but we stood in line so long that the store closed

I should try Russo's again, I just never go in there because I love Pizza Plus so much. I feel at home at Pizza Plus and love their hearty food!

Let us know how the Ikea ribs turn out.

And for one last Red Hot plug, we have had food show up at our door ten minutes after ordering on numerous occasions. They do a remarkable job!

Make sure you ask them to cover the fries with the meatball gravy!

Let me add, both Blue Ribbon and Red Hot manage to have a sauced up rib but not dripping, that is what I meant by controlled. For the record, I have been through the south several times, and just don't enjoy the dry rub ribs nearly as much as the sauced up kind. Next time I get the rib entree at Blue Ribbon, I will ask them if they can give cole slaw instead of mashed potatoes.

IKEA for food??? Remind me not to ask you for restaurant recommendations...

they give you the uncooked ribs, the ingredients, and a recipe for sauce that is in little german pictures only.

The question really is "what wasn't funny...", oh, and flexi, the Gobots comment was hilarious. As much as I love ribs and I love cheap, I'm still pissed at Ikea for withdrawing the free ferry service on weekdays. They promised Red Hook citizens as part of the deal, and surprise....but maybe that's for another thread.

They stopped the weekday ferry service? maybe not enough people were using it. Anyway, what was part of the promise to Red hook residents, that they would get a free ferry service whether or not they were actually shopping at IKEA?

No, they are gonna start charging for weekday ferry service unless you buy something.

Which is sad, the fact that I know people who go there to eat for the cheap food and great view or the fact that I am tempted to go for the ribs? LOL
