I'm sure that's what many businesses on Franklin Avenue would like you to believe.

bad news....it just came out that the Brooklyn is now within the borders of New Jersey. These imaginary lines tend to be very shifty you know.

Well, now that I've read it on the internet, it must be true.

Nope. He's wrong. Franklin is now the official border of Brooklyn Heights

A reliable source tells me that Crown Heights no longer exists. East New York Avenue is the new OFFICIAL border between Prospect Heights and East New York.

On the other hand, another reliable source said that Prospect Heights now officially extends to the Belt Parkway.

Maybe we could just permanently stick the border-discussion thread on the top of the Prospect Heights board.

nah. It seems most posters in the "disputed zone" want to be in PH, and I never advocate giving posters what they want. (whether most people in the area wish to live in PH in a completely different matter)

Instead, it should go on top of the CH board with a title of "let's secede!"

P.S. Before one secedes, one should make sure the other side wants them.

I'd like to see the realtors fight it out with spatulas. The one with the fewest welts wins rights to name the border. As long as it's either Franklin, Washington, or Nostrand.

If that's the case, then Washington Avenue is like Vatican City.

Can you please ask him for the official proclamation? I think the Brooklynian community would love to have a meeting with governing body making these determinations.

While your at it, please ask the esteemed village elder:

At what point does one becomes a local?
...is it based on length of time in the 'hood, or where one lives in the 'hood?

If someone has lived here forever, are they allowed to go to the new stores, bars, and food places? Or, does that make them lose their local status and become gentrifiers?

What if a newbie moves to the hood, yet -in the star trek tradition- vows to consume only goods, "culture" and services that have been in the hood for more than 20 years? Are they a gentrifier?

What if the aforementioned individual has a preference for driving a fixed gear bike and drinking PBR?

What if someone who has lived in the 'hood their entire life develops (or has always had) a preference for fixed gear bikes and PBR?

i support the expansionist policy. From Ratnerville to the Sea, the independent state of ProHo (aka Downtown Brooklyn).

I really don't mean this as an attack, but do you really not realize how ridiculous this is.

"[I]t" happened last week. What is "it" exactlty? What could "it" possibly even be?

there are still no publicly funded prospect heights services. the neighborhood, in essence, remains a fake neighborhood. prospect heights is still part of the 77th precinct, all of which except for your tiny sliver to the west is known as crown heights. this debate just never gets old.

    Not that old chestnut...

There is no border between PH and CH marked on that map. They just used too big a font to fit the name within the borders.

agreed, that map was something drawn on a napkin and then scanned in.
