Is the word Jew York racist?

I am curious to know, my Jewish friends use it. So in a gaming message board. some pc nazi's said it wasn't and i'm like dude its a word play of new. I also said there is no such thing as jewish race .

anyway my respect for some gaming people aren't there, so anyway you guys are probably more educated lol. so what do you guys think. is it or isn't it?

To the extent that the concept of race is accurate, Jews are one. There was that Ethiopian tribe who was proven to be Jewish by DNA analysis a few years back. Many of us secular Jews though, prefer the term tribe.

To answer your question though, I don't think "Jew York" is racist at all. Racist is the multiple Hasidim I heard after the last election loudly proclaiming, "ze Vite House vas meant to be vite!" (as if the white racists consider us to be part of them!)

I would agree with the old notions of race back in the day where they had the english race, german, japanese etc... but modern day probably not .

It's not explicitly racist, but given Western society's history of anti-semitism, and the still-existing rumors that "Jews are taking over" or "Jews run everything" or "Jews own industry X", it's probably better to stay away from terms like "Jew York".

You may not mean it in a negative way whatsoever, but it's not a stretch for someone to be concerned about it.

Best left alone, really.

Just go with the always popular Hymietown. Hear Jackson relinquished the rights to its usage.

I'm curious about their attire. For example, how long will the skirts be?
