Ah yes, Petco. Where the pets go.

We've always been happy with the folks at NYC Pet (either on 5th at Carroll or in the South Slope on 7th next door to Cafe Grumpy).

Also the Acme pet store on Vanderbilt at Prospect...the folks behind the counter in there (and working the aisles) could not be nicer. Great service.

    Returning to topic

I find it absolutely offensive that Petco will be in the Hood.

I got so side-tracked I forgot to say this earlier.

I buy my pet food and supplies (brushes, toys, chews, Frontline) right here on 9th street between 4th and 5th.. Family business and good prices and loyalty does count.

I still miss All For Paws (or maybe "Four") on PPW with Jackie. I also go to Pet Delight next to Rossman's, but since his bout with crystals, Jackson needs prescription dry food (and Stinky eats it too.....which makes it expensive, but easy to manage)

Flexi... NOT to drag this off topic again BUT..

One of my pooches is allergic to chicken (contained in most dog foods) so both of them eat Venison Formula. Flash back to 8 years ago only choices were from the Vet but so much more common to have base of dog foods not chicken so I use Prairie and can get it across the street. If you ahve 2 pets and one is allergic to whatever you gotta feed them the same thing in favor of the specialized diet or... BIG food fight!

Jackie'e store was amazing when she was with us. Miss her.

    Enough.. gotta water the garden!

Petco in Union Square has a shelter adopting cats out of their own store. They have signs all over the place saying to try adoption first. What more can you ask?

Just because they are a chain does not mean anything.

I will be supporting Petco in Park Slope.

Totally with you Veets - my cat is currently on prescription food but any treats/toys I purchase from there. I adore Mike and I have been shopping with him for 2 generations of cats and won't bring my business elsewhere even for less money. There's something about neighborhood places and knowing the people who work there

    For anyone who is interested

Mike works two days in this store on 9th Street..Wednesday and Saturday are his schedule now.

So, if you want to say hi to him shop on those days..

I hear you Veets - believe me I love my Acme on Vanderbilt and will still give them my business but like others have said what I can't get there I am glad to have a Petco (as opposed to Petland type place) as a backup. I hope that they hire locally and allow the local rescue groups like Kennsington Kitties set up there.

    Hi all.

The inevitable thread split finally happened and may be picked up here:

it's actually going to be an UNLEASHED by Petco store....

it's their organic, smaller stores found mostly in massachusetts and california (and one on the upper west side).
