I like Thai Sky on 6th and 5th avenue. It's not really a place that's inviting to eat at but takeout is good. I like going to Song, but sometimes my dishes are a bit bland.

Tacos Nuevo Mexico has good Tacos.

Another japanese place is opening up in my area. I wish it were Korean or Ethiopian.

Wattana is best Thai restaurant in the area... I know because I'm Thai. Try their "rad na" (It's not popular among you american but it's a good choice for someone that can't take spicy food).
Best fine dining is Applewood. I ranked it the same level of Daniel and La Bernadin, foodwise of course not the service or decor. That makes it even better 'cause you get very very good well thought out food in casual and cozy setting.
I like Franny's and Anthony for their pizzas.

    I like Thai Sky too.

I remember years ago eating pierogi at a Polish restaurant on Fifth Avenue in the far South Slope -- I think there used to be a couple of them but I don't know if they are still there.

I went to one many years ago, but it since turned into a regular diner-y place ...

There is a Slovak place on Fifth Ave in the low 20s, west side of the street - name starts with M, I think
Good pierogi when I was there several years ago. I'm almost certain it is still there.

    ahh, googlemagic

Unless I am (happily) mistaken, Max Court has been closed for three years or so.

Still go to Max in E Village everyone once in a moon. Good stuff.

    Subject: Elora's is tasty

I like Elora's on PPW; it's really Windsor Terrace, not Park Slope, but the portions are generous and it's tasty mexican/central american comfort food

still its a diner but its great people best service . they are just the best...
I used to go until various friends complained of filth and roaches. They also jacked up their prices quite unreasonably.

As far as a favorite restaurant in PS, I really don't have one. (Bonnie's, maybe. My fave BKNY joint is Beast in Prospect Hts.)

But Bogota has got to be the WORST, hands down.

My experience was deplorable: I was there with a married couple I'm friends with and we got lousy service and our individual meals were even lousier. And I have yet to hear ANYTHING good from anyone else who's been there. As a matter of fact, a writer I know went 3 separate times to evaluate that place and each and every time was the same: bad food, bad service, and overall ineptitude. (I'm a whisky man myself but a Latin joint that can't make Latin drinks--mojitos, etc--is rather lame.)

I just had a fabulous meal at Convivium Osteria a few days ago, so I have to agree with mixergirl on that.

2nd would be Applewood (they might have been tied for first if they didnt accidently serve me venision when i had ordered lamb, and not realizing it until i was almost done with my meal...

It's not specifically Polish or Russian, but Euro Trip on 5th at 20th (I think) is really, really good Eastern European food. I've only eaten at the bar (the bartenders are great, by the way) but I highly recommend it.

I've been meaning to give Eurotrip a try. Although pierogi with spinach sounds a bit odd.
