We found a lost chicken

So my wife and I just found a lost and very scared little chicken on the corner of 5th and Bergen. It was wandering around scared and it darted under a car. So after I was able to grab a hold of it I now have a small chicken in my backyard. The little guy is welcome to stay for a few days but needs to find himself either his owner or a new home. If anyone lost a chicken or knows of someone who can take on in please send me a note. Other wise Colonel Sanders will be making him extra crispy.

If you change your mind and don't have the courage to slaughter it yourself, there is a live poultry place on Classon that would likely be glad to take it off your hands. They will then sell it to someone who prefers to slaughter their own chicken.

Oh no ! this ugly duckling is just waiting to turn into a swan - with a little help from her friends. Do we need to build a chicken coop? I'm falling in love.!

I will build said chicken coop, if you raise said chicken and name it Brooklynian!

Sean Casey will take it. Here is their contact info:

This guy/girl definitely deserves a chance versus slaughter.

Great I'll contact Sean tomorrow. I may have found someone who raises chickens in BK so that would be ideal.

Or you could buy this place in Red Hook and raise it yourself...

I know that people have released chicks/chickens, ducks/ducklings and bunnies onto the grounds of Poly Prep Day School (92nd street and 7th Ave). When I used to jog by the golf course, there were always people feeding them and they roamed free thru the grounds. Not sure what happened in the winter (I like to think there was shelter). If nobody can take the little guy this has got to be a better alternative than slaughter!!!!

someone must be smoking something mighty good in red hook for those prices.

I bet you some _____x____(boy, girl, white, jew, hispanic, black, republican, democrat, liberal, gay, hipster, asian, biker, woman, man, college student, poor) person lost that chicken.

Damn them for not taking better care of their chicken.

    Animal School

Please don't release animals onto the grounds of Poly Prep. The animals that are there are for the most part "wild" in that they are free to come and go as they please. They are NOT cared for by the school staff, other than to intervene (usually a call to Sean Casey or the ASPCA) if there is a hurt or wounded animal. Young animals are often the victims of "chicken on chicken" or "duck on duck" violence or wander out into the street to be struck by cars. That area is treated as a wildlife preserve and while it is designed to be attractive to local birds and animals, its not a zoo and does not serve as a place to leave unwanted animals.

not he-man enough, any body who likes live chicken would just rip its head off with their teeth and drink their blood right there. and cook it with all the feathers on it. don't need no slaughter houses.

Only (boy, girl, white, jew, hispanic, black, republican, democrat, liberal, gay, hipster, asian, biker, catholics, irish, german, woman, man, college student, poor) people are urban farmers.

I hate urban farmers that lose their chickens!

can't stand half ass farmers, they're most likely full time *insert job.

they could just go out and buy some damn chicken or eggs from the store or organic store. that would cost them much less money and time to raise said chicken or egg laying chicken.

urban farmers are just a hobby for the well to do or paranoid food person.

real farmers can do it with scale both organic and not.

  • whynot_31
    whynot_31

If all of the first world ate only the organic food, it would be such an inefficient use of land and resources that the price of non-organic food would skyrocket.

By doing what they believe is good for themselves and the planet, the organic people would literally starve the poor.

...let's just slaughter the chicken and be done with it, or keep it as a pet.

  • armchair_warrior
    armchair_warrior

lol i don't ever bother with organics :p waste of money and resources. but its more like a religion with my friends these days.

maybe the first world needs a starvation to see how the rest of the worlds see wastefulness of the first world. by starvation don't mean dieting :p.

Whether it is organic or not, chicken is much better tasting than what they serve at most religions.

You are right, i went off a tangent after seeing that dino chicken nugget thing.

I'm sure that chicken could make a good meal to some local homeless dude or me.

Thanks to webmdbs, I now can self diagnose.

I have diarrhea of hands when it comes to talking about fun shaped delicious cookies.

I have a actual legitimate self diagnose disease. and its not made up!!!

I think we do not have have enough evidence to rule out that the chicken was brought to Park Slope by aliens, and then lost.

Therefore, we should consider ourselves smarter than everyone else simply because we are willing to look at all sides of the story.

Because we are smarter, we have the right to call anyone who refuses to consider the possibility of aliens losing the chicken, "Close minded and purposefully ignorant!".
