I would not be so tongue in cheek about the protest if I thought the youth of this country had any real conviction . They live off their parents and have no real work ethic. We have become a nation of spoiled entitled brats and it's getting worse with each new generation. I think they protest because they think it's cool and it will give them something to talk to their friends about. The youth of today have often been spared the pain that they would need to endure in order to know what protest are about.

Mocking people for protesting a very serious issue? That's what you guys are reduced to now?

    Pathetic.

I view it as another opportunity that I missed. I could have called in sick and sold Anarchy t-shirts.

We know the issue is serious. The protesters, meh not so much. Even they admit that they are not exactly sure what their demands are.

At least this won't be as silly as the Battle in Seattle.

It appears as if this protest will be short lived.

The police are arresting the event's leaders for minor infractions, and the followers usually wander off once the leaders are gone.

BTW, here's what seems to be the official webpage of the protest: https://occupywallst.org/

This is about useful as that Moore guys rant/documentary against capitalism. capitalism made him rich.

As I read this article, about 500 people have now sleeping and protesting in the Wall Street area for 4 days.

So far, the police have found reasons/offenses to arrest about 10.

It seems the police believe that at some point, these folks will get tired eating donated pizza and not showering, and eventually go home.

time to spike the donated pizza

    /does evil laugh

actually i hate the wall street guys. but this does nothing lol. if they really are against wall street. do it economically.

  • whynot_31

So far, it seems the protesters' right to peacefully assemble has been honored.

Yes, the police are finding any obscure law they can to arrest them. However, the protesters have not been removed en-mass, despite occupying one of the most security-crazed areas of the city.

Let's see who loses their cool first ....the police or the protesters.

I predict some of the protesters will soon start to get belligerent as a result of sleeping outside for several days.

The police, meanwhile, get to go home at the end of every shift.

Wrong. First of all, do you know any of the protesters? Are you familiar with any of their groups or strategies? No?

Beyond that, it's getting a fair amount of media coverage, even in the See-No-Evil traditional media outlets.

These people are doing more than 99.9% of Americans to publicize what is perhaps the biggest and most destructive ongoing crime in our country today.

Really, it's pathetic for people to be making fun of people who are actually standing up for what they believe in.

I missed all the posts from you guys criticizing or even making fun of the banksters that almost ruined our country, the global economy, and destroyed the retirement and quality of life for millions upon millions of people.

  • whynot_31

    BG-

When the "banksters" engage in misguided protests under the belief that they can change the world, I suspect I will mock them as well.

Until then, it is good to know that the "banksters" are the left's Demon of the Day. ...it is tough for me to keep up.

  • boygabriel
    boygabriel

It's actually not a misguided protest at all. It just seems that way to you because you don't give a sh-t about the crimes that the banks and investment bankers committed.

If more people cared, the world WOULD change.

So you know who's worthy of mockery?

People who sit on their a-- and worse, actually make fun of the people who are choosing to speak up and say "This is not ok with me."

Until then, it is good to know that the "banksters" are the left's Demon of the Day.

Dumb simplification of a very legitimate viewpoint.

But hey, if you don't think what the banks are doing to our country is a huge problem, I hope it's your retirement, employment, house, and home that get destroyed by the next crisis brought on by reckless and parasitic financial industries.

  • whynot_31
    whynot_31

Like all of us, I think the bankers are pursuing their own self interests, and that the government has no effective way of controlling the externalities of their industry.

...do I view the externalities as bad? Of course.

Do I think anyone has come up with a better system? No

Do I think eating pizza and chanting on Wall Street is going to change any of the above? No.

Do I mock those who do think this pathetic demonstration will have any impact, other than temporarily entertaining a bored media and its viewers? Yes.

Oh a better system exists, but there's no price to be paid by politicians, from Obama to Bush to Clinton and f-cking Alan Greenspan, for not implementing it.

Actual punishment and regulation would change everything.

But not enough people are angry enough, unlike the people actually willing to voice their anger by protesting on Wall Street.

In other countries there's mass protests and demonstrations about financial crimes and counterproductive austerity measures.

In this country we sit on the internet making fun of the few of us who bother to speak up.

  • whynot_31
    whynot_31

You shouldn't under estimate me, I also make fun of the protesters when they demonstrate against buzz words like "banksters" and "capitalism" in other countries.

When they have a chance at implementing a better system than we have presently, I will join them in their fight. Until then, I will:

-make sure their rights to protest are honored

-watch them be arrested when they break minor laws.

-watch them go home after not showering for a week

-mock them for holding fanciful, naive ideas about how to change the world, and for expecting a significant percentage of the population to join them.

However, you are free to defend them or join them if you wish.

  • boygabriel
    boygabriel

You don't think protesting is worthwhile.

    Got it.

  • whynot_31

I've always wanted the left to cast me as the Demon of the Day, but I thought I would need to be rich.

    I was wrong.

    Don't flatter yourself.

Just want to make clear that you think that public demonstrations are pointless.

  • whynot_31

I stated above that they are a great place to sell t-shirts, and provide entertainment.

What more of a point do they need?

The right already hates me all of the time.

Can't the left at least give me the coveted title of "Demon" for one measly day?

  • boygabriel
    boygabriel

    As I suspected.

I suspect you expect more from these pizza-eating, slogan-chanting youth than they are capable of.

They are not the Chicago Seven.

They are not the Freedom Riders.

    ...they are sad.

  • armchair_warrior
    armchair_warrior

public demonstrations does nothing, but make a good/suckie spectacle.

real change comes from actions. if these kids really want to do something about the wallstreet guys, bury them economically from either killing them in their own game or other economic means, or just killing them outright.

You know what brings me joy, the same !@#$ racist mother !@$$$% who told me to go back to china. I walk by living next to them, being economically successful deliberately buying into their neighborhoods.

Since they can't afford the areas themselves any more. Funniest thing was they thought Chinese were lowering their values of their hoods lol. Now they are bitching they can't afford the hood because of us. Some dumb old timers still think we lower the values. But they don't understand supply and demand.
