There are a lot of myths out there about who is eligible for the various programs. In NYC, about 1.8 million people (approximately 20% of the population) are assisted by the program. Thirty percent (30%) of NYC families with children now receive food stamps.

The recession (aka "new normal") has made the program more expensive as a result of more families qualifying for it due to falling income.

Visited Hangzhou and the *gorgeous* lake and gardens and canals in Suzhou while studying over there 22 years ago during that wacky ol' Tiananmen Square summer of '89.

Agreed, the canal system and everything else there in Suzhou in particular is an absolute must-see.
