That sign sounds hilarious! I want to get a coffee from P&B just because of that.

He and his wife visited. I was waiting for someone to comment they recognized him.

I ran into him on Friday. It was nice seeing him, brought back some familiarity...  For those of you who don't know him, he and his wife were true pioneers of Franklin Ave. opening a clothing shop and a candy store in what now seems like ages ago.

As a result of being an electrician, he gained an understanding of how various neighborhoods were changing based on the various places he was getting electrical work.

...which led him to purchase some properties, back when doing so was within the means of an electrician.

Now, he rents them out. I believe they pay for a significant % of his family's expenses in Florida.

This photo is basically him smiling at his investments paying off.

BTW, I asked someone if this Starbucks was named #23266 in the DOH records because it is the 23,266th location:

    They stated "yes".

Which makes sense because they had 23,187 stores in July 2014:

Gave in and paid a visit resently. The coffee is...well, it's Starbucks, you know what you get. The space and atmosphere is pretty open and inviting. Nice place to sit and read a book. It looks like there is always someone there without it being too crowded.

Anyone know what the permanent hours are? I'm doing a lot of treking around the neighborhood after 9pm, and this would be a good place to make a pit stop with a nice tea before finally heading home if its open later.

They have a sign up for hours that indicates 6 AM -10 PM weekdays and 6:30 AM - 10 PM weekends, I believe.

At 3pm yesterday, I went looking for a Franklin Ave coffee shop to sit in while catching up on some work.  Lazy Ibis is closed for renovations (always crowded post-Starbucks), and there was nowhere to sit with a laptop at Little Zelda, Forte, Breukelen, and Tinto.  They were all packed.  I finally found a place in Bed-Stuy.

    Businesses can and must evolve.

    Starbucks didn't cause this fact.
