Jam Rock Kitchen Moving

Just got word yesterday that Jam Rock Kitchen is moving from its spot on Franklin Ave between Eastern Parkway and Lincoln Place to Nostrand Ave and Fluton to a larger location that will offer more seating for dinners.

I am glad they did well on Franklin, and hope they do well on Nostrand!

Big loss to Jamaicans in the area spoke to cj about it this morning he consoled me and told me he will deliver. The spot will probably be another coffee joint something we really really need on Franklin

It might be replaced with another coffee shop.

I would love to see a cheese shop move in - it's right next to the wine store, so the location is perfect. Not sure if the neighborhood is quite ready to support something like that yet, but with the condos opening up across the street in the next year...

Most businesses are going to cater to a specific group.

For example, Jam Rock catered to those who are interested in West Indian food and had the money to pay for it. It sounds like they did well!

He did do well I was a heavy supporter. He needed more space to accommodate a growing customer base. I love to see that happen ESP when my money had something to do with it Love It!!!

When I am hungry for West Indian food, my money goes to The Islands on Washington Ave.

It is located closer to me than Jam Rock was....

I am in the mood for West Indian food less than always. Sometimes I enjoy bagels, or cheese.

That does not surprise me.

I liked the food here. It was a bit pricey but always good. I didn't like how they would pile their garbage around they only bike rack in that side of the street on Saturday night and it would sit until Monday. That was not good for their neighbors' trying to make a buck on Sundays. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to eating at their new place.

Garbage and bike rack issues oh boy.

You could have called 311 on the garbage. You're not supposed to leave it out before the night of the pickup.

Call 311 because he put garbage out too early give me a break don't you have better things to do with your time.

It only takes a few minutes, and if it changes someone's antisocial behavior it's worth it.

As the condos at EP and Franklin near completion, I suspect the realtors will make lots of 311 calls.

They will want prospective buyers to see a neighborhood in which there is order, and is always in the process of maintaining quality of life issues. They (and the people who move in) will use the muscle of the city to help them get the best return for their investments.

And what about the people on the other side of the pkwy will they be allowed to cross the street and walk pass these luxury condos or will 311 be called too . They will probably be antisocial too. Remember we have to maintain the new class structure in the neighborhood. I see we have a lot of eyes observing these people and will help police them. By them I mean the antisocial poor rats that they are perceived to be,

I am sorry you perceive them that way.

There is good butcher and drug store over there, I go to it somewhat often.

And letting people continue to dump trash where ever the darn well please will help this?

Chloe, I suspect you may feel very differently if some one was putting garbage in a car parking space. Then just imagine that it was the only spot on that side of the street.

Vaportrail people do dump garbage on me regular garbage and construction debris I just deal with it and me and my disabled husband move it. Calling 311 does not enter our mind.

That's strange. I call 311 often. I want to live in a nice place.

It would not surprise me if there was a correlation between neighborhood change (be it investment/gentrification, or disinvestment/slumification) and 311 utilization.

People likely use it as a way to try to protect their investments against perceived threats.

I would hypothesize that the financially and emotionally invested, and those that have good experiences with authorities in the past, tend to use it more than those who are less invested, or have had negative experiences.

Whynot, I agre. I live in Ditmas Park now and supposedly we are one of the top 3 neighborhoods for noise. I say it's crap, though, because it is solely based on 311 noise calls. Meaning it isn't necessarily louder, rather that people complain more here. I prefer to say we are in the top 3 most full-of-complainers neighborhoods. Our place in Crown Heights was WAY louder, but less people called.
