While I might show up and introduce myself on August 15th, I think we should follow up my idea of having a larger gathering here.

I suggested the idea back in March 2014, when it was in the process of becoming Z'bar.

Would readers be interested in gathering on Thursday, August 20th?

...this would give the staff a little time after their grand opening to get their act together.

Heads up drinkers: In addition to B Bra now being open, I have received word that the space next door, Basic Needs 791 Prospect Place, has begun the process of getting an alcohol lic.

Returning to B Bra, Ms Whynot and I stopped in for a beverage this evening. It is quite nice, and has full table service:

Not to be a shill (though I sound like a shill - but I have no relationship to B Bra other than being a satisfied patron): 

If you haven't been in a while, B Bra has updated its menu.  When they opened, I thought the food was really good, but wondered whether the prices (mid-teens) would fly in the neighborhood.  The new menu has an excellent burger, poutine, and assorted other good-for-you and not-so-good-for-you things.  I think prices top out at $10 or $11, with most things under that (the burger is $7 if I remember correctly).  And the people who work there continue to be super nice. 

I love the Breukelen Brasserie.

I noticed that yesterday.

All of the stools were left upside down on the tables at 6 PM and the gate was not pulled down.

It's open tonight.

Now closed, without explanation.

Anyone have intel? ...note, the owners also operate a coffee shop/bar by the same name on Franklin Ave.

The baristas at that coffee shop have always left me feeling like they were doing me a huge favor by taking me order.

It was pretty terribly run, too. Surprised it lasted that long to be honest

I ate there once, and it was ok. However, when my dog and I would walk by, it always seemed empty and was randomly closed.

damn, kind of sad to see them leave. it was devastating when Exquisite closed and i wasn't 100% looking forward to having a coffee shop in its place. however their thursday night live jazz performances made me think it would become a great spot. also enjoyed the mural, sad to see it has been painted over. i wonder what's to come...

I enjoyed it when it was the brasserie. The switch to a tapas menu last year and the drab redesign of the decor left me very confused.

I so agree. I stopped going after the mural went up.

The new look to the pharmacy across street should make this location inviting again!
