New Businesses on Kingston

I think the area near Dean will at least get some better bodegas. ....and, of course, a coffeeshop and a Mexican themed restaurant.

Brothers Mark V, the shuttered variety store at 163 Kingston is for rent.

Here's a rare peek inside from last September. It's the only time I ever saw the gate up in three and half years.

A worker there told me this morning that this storefront is becoming a real estate office.

And the craft paper is down at Boeuf & Bun. Sign on the door said it's closed for a private event tonight.

 

The bodega closest to Park Pl. on Kingston Ave. is going to become a new dollar/discount store.  The sign went up a few days ago..

Oh, yay. Just what we desperately needed.

Next door to Maxwells, 257 Kingston would like to join in the fun.

That's the old barber shop. I posted in September 2013 that it had a for rent sign, so it's been sitting vacant for a while now. 

It is now listed with a mid size realty firm, so it will hopefully get more action than resulted from hanging a sign on the front window.

Now with a bike lane.

They're working on narrowing St. Johns as well. From about Howard to Utica. Making the parking lanes wider and a safety zone in the middle of the street. Don't see any markings for a bike lane but at least I won't get all these jerks trying to squeeze by and pass me on the right.

My gut tells me Kingston will have a bar that specializes in craft beer by the summer of 2017.
