You may want to talk about why you believe that on the spice factory thread.

Let's keep this one is about yummy desserts and drinks.   We now have our own version of Little Italy's Ferrara Cafe...

Regardless, there is now a dessert bar for them if it matches their means and preferences....

And just to be clear: Butter & Scotch is for everyone in the area.  I've heard several long-time residents I know say that they're happy it's opening and look forward to buying dessert there.  They may not (or may) have the means to spend money there regularly, but most have the ability to do so at least occasionally and are apparently happy to have the opportunity.

In that regard, I am interested in seeing how their morning bakery - coffee business takes shape once this place is fully open.

IE I think a greater portion of the neighborhood will/can partake of a quick morning coffee and a pastry for around $4.

    -As opposed to-

A local "date night" destination where a couple drops $40.

Will children be allowed in during the morning bakery/coffee portion?  When/at what time of the day does it become a bar?

I already asked about this.  Yes.  Sounds like they'll be allowed all day.

Yay. Glad to hear kiddos can come, too.

I start to wonder if this place will become very similar to Spirited. I absoloutely looove Spirited.

Hi Brooklynians, just a heads up that we've had to push the opening back to Saturday the 24th - sorry for the delay, but we hope you'll find it worth the wait!

Hey Allison & Keavy, I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but are there any vegan friendly options on the menu?  My better half is a pastry cook, so I know the challenges associated with making vegan friendly pastry options, but I figured I'd throw it out there anyways, just in case.  I'd love to patronize a new business south of the Parkway, but that's always easier if there are some viable vegan-friendly options.  Thanks! ;-)

Hi mcpoet! We'll have a few vegan-friendly options and are working on a couple of GF options as well. We've already developed the recipe for a Piña Colado Shake with dairy-free coconut ice cream from Blue Marble, and we'll be doing dairy-free sundaes with that as well. Hope to see you here after we open on the 24th!

Sweet!  I'll definitely stop by to try out one of those delicious sounding concoctions!  Also, it looks like the place is getting some great press!  I highly doubt the old Crown Fried Chicken got any mentions in the New York Times when it first opened...lol.

    It is unlikely.

I think if any newspaper was going to review new Crown Fried Chicken locations, it would be the NY Post.

I saw on their FB page that they will be open in the evenings this weekend, and then serve coffe and pastry to the morning crowd starting next week.

    So... what I gather is
    - boozy desserts
    - BAR
    - morning coffe and pastry
    - desserts to go (?)

I welcome all of the above.

Oh, and I had a sneak peek looking inside lately. I think that bar area looks very narrow. Maybe there is more in the back that I can't see from the putside.

They had their grand opening today. I walked past and saw a lot of people inside plus people outside. I could not figure out if the outside people were just checking it out from the outside, or plannung how to get in (narrow and crowded). Judging from that, looks like it will become a popular place.

They are offering egg, biscuit, bacon sandwiches as well.

In the morning, it is a cafe.

Whynot asks readers think of all the marketing, build out expertise and other resources we have seen displayed from the owners of Butter and Scotch.

He then asks readers to compare said expertise and resources that which has been displayed by the owners of Island CZ, a business that I believe has a far better location.

The two businesses do not directly compete against each other, but they certainly display profound contrasts in their ability to meet the preferences and means of potential customers.

I cannot really comment on B&S vs. Island CZ.

I can, however, speak for the mini cupcakes sold at B&S. Maple bacon. Yum.

I think the benefits of B&S having been through the Brooklyn Flea machine are clear.

The owners then used the knowledge gained to locate in an area where people who frequent the Brooklyn Flea reside...

Interesting. I wonder if it's a test for a larger collaboration. I like the desserts and drinks at B&S, but the decor and layout are kinda awful, the space usage inefficient as well. Could've been a much nicer place.
